Barry CRNA Starting 2018

Published

Hello all! I just thought I would start a thread for those of us applying. I have started my application and I am working on my personal statement now. How are you all doing?

I have taken the GRE and passed my CCRN. I still need to get my PALS. I also need to ask for my letters of recommendation and send in my school transcripts & GRE scores. I'm going to try to apply for the Tampa campus.

I took professional aspects this past spring. You will get an A but the professor is very frustrating. She doesn't know how to communicate without making you feel like a burden to her or an idiot; she doesn't know how to work canvas; she will change assignment instructions at the last minute (minor changes but changes none the less) and she will tear your paper apart (you will still get an A, she wants APA but she seems to have a different version in her head). I didn't do head start, first semester is very doable but a lot of work. A lot of us had more anxiety with professional class at times compared to the other classes that are pretty tough and more important. Again you will get an A but will go a little bald dealing with the instructor.

Thanks for the heads up... I'm still impatiently waiting (jk)... file forwarded April 21 GRE official results weren't received until May 2 even though online it said they sent them to Barry 4/26.... still waiting... I heard only two interview dates/month? Anyone know if there is any truth to this?

Thanks to everyone who posts... it helps to have others to talk to while we wait

Still waiting too :(

Take headstart, take headstart, take it, just do it. Seriously. I took all three, my classmates were definitely more stressed.

As far as SF. 24ish of us right now. Ironically we are the "main" campus but now every teacher is distance. They are all in orlando or tampa. It can be frustrating at times because you can't simply ask a question and have a conversation, it has to be typed on the computer and then the distance teacher has to read it etc.

SF is very tough clinically, Broward General is the main hospital, but I promise you when you leave you will be among the most competent.

Be prepared to learn on your own. You won't be coddled and taken care of. The first year is by far the toughest, if you make it past that you're good.

Also, any of you who are in head start research. I highly suggest you make friends with your older classmates, make a deal that you do most of the research paper and then they pass on information for future classes to you. It will be the best decision you ever make.

I'm some have PM'd me, I'll try to get to the emails at some point.

Has there been any instances of people being admitted late in the year, like around August or September, and not getting their first pick for the clinical site?

People have definitely been admitted late in the year, as far as not getting their clinical site...I'm not sure. I haven't actually heard of anyone not getting their chosen clinical site. Especially the big areas like SF, Orlando, Tampa, but those in the Ocala and WPB area might have difficulty.

Anybody else get accepted or get invite to interview this month? Seems like only 2 interview dates/month?

It's been awful quiet around here...any news from those who interviewed last wk or today???

Interviewed today. It was really laid back and more personal. Should be hearing something within two weeks they said.

I'm sure you'll get that acceptance email. How many students were in your interview group?

Is it just me or does it sound like they r on a 2 month delay...everyone sounds like they apply and get letter saying their file is under review and then 6-8 wks later they get call for interview and actually interview. That's torture.
