Congrats!! What was your top choice for campus/clinical site?

West palm for me. I think I was the only one at the interview for that campus

At the airport en route to my interview at WCU I got a call from Barry. I'll be interviewing on April 25th! Very excited. How soon did they want the deposit from you all? Isn't it around $1,000 to secure your spot?

Yes we interviewed on Monday and emails went out the following Friday, then they gave us a little over two weeks to accept and put down a deposit. Good luck!

Hi, I'm waiting to hear about a possible interview, as well. I sent my complete application in late March. I'm hoping to hear something soon. I'll be trying to obtain a spot in Hollywood. I've been a CVICU nurse for 2 years. GRE scores and references pretty good. Hoping for the best. Also applied to FIU.

I'm hoping for an interview invite as well!! Just waiting for GRE scores to reach admission... Hopes are in the air! :sarcastic:

Good luck to us all

RNWiz,

I would really like to get into the Head Start program. Definitely lightens the load in the first semesters from what I've been hearing. What campus are you aiming for? Have you heard anything about the program versus FIU, etc?

I have my heart set on Barry mainly because of the Head Start program too! FIU doesn't even have that option aside from the fact that their program starts TWO semesters later in August 2015 and so that will be c/o 2018.

I am aiming for Hollywood/Ft. Lauderdale area, then Orlando or even Naples but not a stickler of the choice really I will be overjoyed just to get in!

Other than the info from each program's website I don't really know anything else but I did pick up on the claim that Barry students have the opportunity to do three times the required hours of cases/hours -that just sounds phenomenal to me!

The cost is about the same with both and so really the main difference is that Barry starts sooner and let's you ease the workload with the Head Start... this may be less important to some but I find it really attractive lol

I also visited FIU campus and the facility is really top-notch! They have a whole floor equipped with simulation rooms and the resources to make any given scenario as close as possible to a real life situation so that was really WAW. They do use it often too integrated in most of the courses so that students feel prepared before they hit their clinical locations.

Hoping for more insight about the differences from actual students as the thread gets more and more populated...

I didn't apply to FIU program yet... My hope is that I wont need to but in case I don't hear anything from Barry I will have no choice but to apply there too

I received an interview offer for April 24, while I was en route to my interview at WCU. After my interview at WCU, I was offered spot, so I decided to take it. I won't be flying out to interview at Barry. Good luck to everyone, Barry's program seems like a good one! Best of luck to all of you in your careers.

Congratulations to your spot in WCU!!!

Would you be willing to share your stats for us hopefuls over here?

Yeah, they both sound great. 3.4, 156/153, CCRN, 2 years CVICU.
