Anyone applying to Barry University BSN to DNP starting May 2019?
Still working on my application. Hopefully will have everything in by August. I'm taking my GRE the end of July.
5 years RN
2.5 CVICU
CCRN
The usual (BSN, ACLS, PALS)
3.8 GPA for my BSN
General Chem A
will be shadowing a CRNA sometime soon and getting recommendation from them, supervisor, and possibly CV attending surgeon. (Just in case someone didn't send it in).
Hoping for high GRE scores, I know this is a competitive program. Haven't written my personal statement yet, don't really know what they're looking for. Hope to see you guys there!
They also wanted proof of active license status, I did a print screen of the Florida Board of Nursing with my active license status displayed. Is that what everyone else is sending in?
No I'm not in the program yet. I will be applying this year so that hopefully I can start next May. However, I've spoken to several students who started last year.Yeah the "Transition to Nurse Anesthesiology" fulfills the science class requirement, not the science lab requirement so yeah you definitely need to take a chem class and the lab. I mentioned that class just because it'll look good on the resume if you've taken it. It's all online and it's a pretty easy class, but you will learn some things that will be helpful in the CRNA program.
I think you'll be fine though. But if you can squeeze it in to your schedule then you should take it. Are you going to take the chemistry class in the Fall?
Yes, I plan on taking Chem class and LAB in the fall.
I just sent my application online and documents required through email (including transcripts). Got a email back with "Thanks. Will add these to your file). So I assume I don't need to mail transcripts again. Now working on my essay and waiting for the letters of recommendation.
Stats:
Cumulative GPA: 4
Organic Chemistry with lab and Statistics: 4
GRE: V 147, Q 159
Certificates: BLS/SCLS/PALS/CCRN
ICU experience: 4 years in cardiac ICU
Good luck with our application!
