Anyone applying to Barry University BSN to DNP starting May 2019?

Congrats to the ones who already have interviews. I've heard that Barry interviews are more of a formality than anything else, and that almost everyone who gets an interview is very likely to be accepted.

My stats are

GPA: 3.37

Certifications: CCRN-CMC (adults), CCRN (Neonatal), CEN, TCRN. I also have the BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications up-to-date.

Experience: 1.5 years in NICU, 1.5 years in Surgical ICU so far.

GRE: Studying for it now. Dreading it lol. Trying to get a 310!

Took Orgo 1 and got an A. Took Barry's pre-anesthesia class and got an A as well.

I'll submit the application once I take the GRE. I hope that if I do well on the GRE then hopefully my stats will be good enough (fingers crossed). I hope to see all of you there!

I hope you are right, about getting an interview and it being a high chance of acceptance. I've heard that quite a bit so fingers crossed.

The good thing with Barry is they truly do look at the whole picture b/c my GRE wasn't super fantastic - I want to say combined mine was 304 so I felt I could have done way better. But I still got a call for an interview so they must have looked at other things.

Good luck!!

(Icu 2.5 years, CCRN, OCN (oncology), Chemo certified, Run CRRT, shadowed in my OR with MD and CRNA's, BSN gpa 3.7, took chem lab/lec last summer with A's in both, volunteered every week for a couple years now at local elementary school, obviously PALS/ACLS etc... That's about what my background consists of that I can think of!)

I think your stats are really good. And yes Barry U does look at the whole picture. GRE of 304 is good as well. I think you'll be just fine. I'm trying to get above 310 on GRE to compensate for my okay GPA.

Best of luck to you as well! Hope to see you on the other side lol

Barry is already taking applications? I saw on their website the deadline is November 1.

Specializes in Pulmonary / Critical Care NP, CRNA.

Thanks! Interview is July 13th. I left message regarding time, should hear back tomorrow that the time is confirmed.

Yeah - they are pretty good with taking apps most of the year. July is their first round of interviews but they keep going every month until the end :)

Yes but apparently you can already submit your application well ahead of time. A few people are already being called for interviews.

Hey! Did you get the interview confirmation email from Carolyn yet? She told me she would send me an email I just never got it so I wasn't sure if she was going to send it closer to when the interview is, or if I should've gotten it already. I'm just trying to make sure I didn't dream the phone call Lol... I emailed her today but I guess she's out of the office until next Monday.

I haven't heard back yet. I left a message and emailed in case someone else might be following up over this next week.

Gotcha - I sent an email today and her out of office reply says she's out till 6/18 so I guess we will likely hear back then! In the out of office reply it said if it was about the interview she'd get back ASAP though. So hopefully you'll hear back sooner than that!

I got called for an interview! I am scheduled 8/31! I am so excited.
