Anyone applying to Barry University BSN to DNP starting May 2019?
I've yet to hear from Denise Dean. I completed my app back in September. Cum gpa 3.1 Nursing 3.6 BSN 3.8. CEN CCRN ENPC TNCC MICN 3 years ER 1 year ICU. I majored in molecular biology first. Seems as though i wont make the cut this year as most of you have already been called for interviews.
Have you called the office and spoken to Ms. Deen yet? Your stats sound as good, if not better than mine, and I was accepted. Did you take the GRE?

I haven't spoke with Ms. Dean over the phone yet, but have kept in touch via email. I suppose i should call her office Monday. The most I've gotten from her is to "contact me next week for an update". I have taken the GRE, i got a 310 which isn't the most competitive score, but still above average and the benchmark mentioned on the most school sites. I've been told by Marian University and Gonzaga that i need MORE ICU experience and that I'll be competitive next year. So far waiting to hear back from FSU, Barry, USC, Union (Tennessee), Oregon (highly unlikely), Loma Linda, Rhode Island, and National University.

I got interviews at 2 of the schools you mentioned and waiting on USC. My GRE is no where as competitive as yours. Your icu experience is low and not sure what kind of icu, teaching hospital, small community. Also not sure your science gpa, they look at that as well. The cum gpa is low but you have a bunch of certifications which should help.
Yeah definitely call her tomorrow. My GRE was 312, pretty much the same as yours. Your stats are competitive and, like I said, similar to mine. I also have the CCRN, TCRN, and CEN certifications. Your cumulative gpa is a little low but your nursing gpa's are better than mine. So yeah your stats are competitive and you should find out what's going on. Did you take the required chemistry course within 5 years?

I am starting biochemistry in the winter (December first). I actually just spoke with denise via email and she forwarded me to Carolyn Kaercher. Seems as though my gpa is what is holding me back, but my application is still under review. Here's to hoping!
thanks for all the help and advice. I'd really hate to have to wait another year.
I haven't gotten the application review email yet either. I finished mine in October. I feel like I'm harassing her by emailing so often! I just want to make sure I'm not NOT doing something I should've done. I need to exercise some patience, but I'm nervous! From what I understand, there are still 3 interview dates (Nov, Dec, and Jan) and they are nowhere near filled yet. We still have a chance!
