Baptist Versant Program 2014

U.S.A. Florida

Hello everyone! I just wanted to know if anyone applied to this program? I would also like to get some feedback on previous New Grads that went through the program. THANKS! :)

Thanks @jen_jen88!!!

Hey I applied to the program about a week and a half ago. Has anyone been hired yet or heard back? My application has been in the screening process since the 23rd. Hopefully I am not too late :/

Hi all! I just graduated with my BSN in April in Ohio and will be moving down to Miami in the next month!! I am so excited- but this whole finding an RN job is putting a little bit of a damper on it! I am currently in the process of waiting as well to get into the August program. I have already done the phone interview about 3 weeks ago and turned in my required documents and completed questionairre about a week or two ago. How long has it taken for you all to hear back to set up a panel interview? That is the next step for me from what I have read on your posts, correct? If we are not chosen to continue onto the panel interview are we sent an email or letter informing us or do we have to assume? Thanks all -- congrats to all who have been so lucky to be approved! :)

I was called for an interview probably the last week of January first week of February for March. It probably took about 3 weeks or so to start getting calls for panel interviews.

Okay awesome, thank you! How many people are on the "panel"...it's hiring managers right? I'd love To know if you happen to remember any specific questions they asked you and how long it went for. Even more importantly, How are you liking the program? What should we expect? Sorry for all of the questions- you've been so helpful girl!

Well I went to two different interviews you can have one, two or even more depending which units want to interview you (ED, L&D, MedSurg etc) and which location wants to interview you also (South Miami Hospital, Doctors Hospital, Baptist Main, Urgent Care Clinics, etc) I went to two interview for med Surg in different entities and there were about 7-9 people in the panel interview. The questions were fairly simple starting off maybe with why nursing, where do you see yourself in 5 yrs, etc. Questions basically about yourself then they ask clinical questions and depending on the unit your interviewing for will ask different questions. For med surg it can be questions regarding priority like which patient will you see first or delegation to CNA's. Maybe how will you deal with certain situations. Baptist prides itself on having compassionate and humble people working for them so they look for that when they hire people. Just be honest. I went in nervous and I was recovering from Bells Palsy which sucked because my whole left side of my face was paralyzed! lol but I went in and did the best I could do ans was actually called back from both hospitals. I wish you all the best. Its a great hospital to work for I am in my 13 week so only 5 weeks left. I started nights and I love it. I love my team and the experience I am getting on my med surg unit (we are a med surg but specialize in bariatrics, orthopedics, neuro, and women services so we get the pregnant women with N/V or if they gave birth and got an infection).

WOW! I have been so unbelieveably busy I havent even had time to check this -- thank you for your response! I actually received a call and have an interview for the pediatric residency on Thursday --- SO nervous! It makes me feel good to talk to someone who is experience this and so happy you enjoy it! thank you for the well wishes, hope it all goes smoothly! One question however, have you heard or do they ask about passing boards? Unfortunately I am so horrible at exams and failed it my first time - I will be taking it again around the end of July but wasnt sure how strict they were about who they hire and if they favor licensed applicants or not. Also, from what you remember do I need to be prepared and come with anything like my resume or any documents - or just myself? THANKS AGAIN :)

Hi Jen_Jenn88,

Thank you for sharing all this information, it has helped me a lot :)

I do have one question, When you were offered a position in the program did you receive a phone call or was it by email?

Thanks again for your help :)

Hey, I did just in case. I brought extra resumes and copies of everything. Dress up nice like a suit and they want you to have your license brf you start.

I was called by a nursing recruiter and was offered two positions. They allow you to choose which one you want.

Thank you so much for all of this information. How soon are we expected to make a decision on an offer and what happens next?

I know this is extremely late from your original post but I have to tell you THANK you soooo much for this feed! It was so helpful for my panel interview and my nerves when I applied for the August residency ... Which I got at Baptist! I don't know you but I have to say you helped more than you'll know! Thank you so much for starting this!
