I hadn't seen a thread for the spring 2016 admissions, just wondering if theres anyone else out there!
:)
Hi everyone! I just finished my first semester in the nursing program. My advice would be to read as much as you can now in your foundations book! You read practically that whole book in the first 8 weeks. The study guide book and online stuff with it is awesome and I would highly recommend using them. You only use the calculation book to learn basic conversions for meds and not till later on in the 8 weeks. The drug book, lamone, and Ackley are pretty much used for your clinical paperwork. They really focus on the foundations book until you get to commons. But read read read because it will catch up with you fast in the 1st 8 weeks!
havent attached my patches yet. i know they go on the left arm on scrubs but do i need to put one on my tshirts as well?[/quoteGood question, patches go on Scrub tops only...anyone know sim lab attire?? Is it full scrub set or is it tshirt w/ scrub pts?
Ohhh that's a good question too. I just assumed that we would have to wear the full scrub set for the sim lab since that's what we would have to wear during clinicals.

What is the first day like?
Good luck to everyone about to start. I'm about to begin my final semester of the day program. I love everything about this program and am so thankful that I'm a part of it. The classes are tough but the faculty and the clinical experiences are amazing. Keep in close contact with your instructors and take their advice, as they want you to succeed. Also, if you begin to decline in your success, go to the instructor EARLY. There are resources that can help you. Do it early, though- I've never heard of extra credit and a 75.9 is failing.
Also, get involved! SNA and SGA are great ways to do so. Get to know your classmates. They are fighting similar battles as you and can be a great source of strength, support, and motiVation.
Go to class, check your email, and be on time! A great deal of information is given during every lecture. While there are a few boring lectures, most of them are fascinating. Many of the instructors give imperative and crucial information through email. Check it often! (There is an app for the email you can get on your smart phone). Be on time! Instructors can listen can the door at the beginning of class. Any information you miss or quizzes you miss are gone. Be on time at clinical. It's embarrassing for you and the program if you're late. Also, your instructor can fail you for being late more than once! Just set get in the habit of being on time. It absolutely MUST happen when you get a job as a nurse, begin the habit now.
Again, good luck. This is a wild ride but soooo worth it!

I actually got the stuff in the bundle pack cheaper buying it separately. I did a lot of digging around online to find the cheapest prices. I've started the reading too.
