Nursing Students School Programs

I am accepting a seat at Baptist School in San Antonio for Spring 2014. Does anyone know when the first day of school is?

What about nearby apartments that range from 500-600 month for 1 bedroom. I am relocating from Houston to San Antonio.

Thanks for your help!

Do you know if the list of books we will need is available? I'd like to start pricing them on Amazon.
I've found the book list from last semester, ours hasn't been posted yet. Here's the link: http://www.bshp.edu/docs/librariesprovider12/fall-2013-textbooks/dpn---fall-2013.pdf?sfvrsn=8

Sorry for the late reply. As far as books, I'm going off the list from last semester. I'm sure we can get the details on Processing day. From what I been told, they don't change books every semester, as some schools do. My processing day is this Wednesday and I've written down allot of questions....books, financial aid, how the semesters will run, considering we are starting in Spring. Well good luck with processing day and let me know how it goes for you----and if you hear anything we all should know about. I'll do the same.

Not sure if you made your appt with the nurse, but they were correct when they told us the spots fill up first. I called this past week and I got an appt for the middle November. Just thought I would let you know, as there is sooo many things to do......

I think on one of the emails we received (maybe the processing day one) it said we need to be complete with the school nurse by November 27th. Thanks for the heads up!

Congrats on the acceptance!!

I'm planning on applying to the LVN to RN advance placement to start in May, I have my TEAS V this month.

Would ya'll mind saying your scores and gpa. I have a 4.0 gpa for the prereqs. I'm just worried about this entrance test:/ What should I aim for?

I was hoping to start at SAC this Spring semester but declined it due to it being extremely close to my due date, having a baby in January!

I also have all the co-requisites done, hoping it would lower the tuition. Seeing the $20K tuition is a bit overbearing but I'm hoping the LVN to RN won't be as expensive & having all the co-requisites would lower it.

Any LVN to RN prospects out there for May 2014?

I'm ready to be done with nursing school!!

Hey Angelica.

Well don't get crazy over the teas. From people I talked to starting or in the program, there was several people with 75's or just around that.

I used the ATI book and found it very helpful. People have varying opinions about it, but that's all I used and passed. I read every page and did every practice test several times. I did the best on science which I expected to do the worst. Go online---google and see what others say about the test. One guy went thru section by section of what to expect and it was an outline of the ATI book with a few tips.....in no way does he questions on the exam but for people who didn't get the ATI book his summary was a good guide. Try putting in taking the Teas here on All nurses and read what others who passed the test wrote. It will help......well I hope this helps and hope it goes well. Let me know how it goes.

Hi Angelica, I'm going to have to agree with Kadj. The TEAS isn't anything to get crazy over. I invested in the official ATI study guide and I feel that it helped me greatly. I took the test before I had even started my A&P, micro and chem prereqs and scored an 80 overall. In addition to the book with the practice tests, I purchased additional tests on ATI's online store. During our processing day our admissions counselor mentioned that each general education course that is transferred in from ACCD or elsewhere can take about $900-1000 off of your tuition. The exact number may vary for different programs, and different start days. I hope we've helped clear some things up. Congrats on your baby, btw!

Thank you guys! Great tips. I bought and started a study guide that was recommended on amazon. I'm honestly only worried about math, my weakest subject. It's been a while! I'm studying about 2-3 hours a day. I'll let ya'll know how I do, Nov 21st is when I'm taking it.

GOOD LUCK in RN school!!!!!

OH another question, at St. Marys University testing center did they allow calculators?? (another fear:0)

Thank you! Math is (and has always been) my weakness, but I made a point to study it vigorously and ended up with the highest score out of all the other sections. I don't believe either of the testing sites will allow calculators, I took mine at St. Mary's and wasn't allowed a calculator. Good luck!!

I've been doing the study guide & practice test without a calculator to prep my brain for this exam. I just really want to get a high score so there will be no doubt about starting in May. The LVN to RN track only accept about 20-25 students, for May. & I prefer going to BSHP instead of SAC. I'm 23, I feel like I should be done w nursing school. I did the LVN when I was 19, I absolutely love nursing.

Is anyone doing the Spring LVN program?? My people don't seem to be on here! lol I start January 6th, and I'm super excited!!

Hey Angelica. I took it at St Mary's and thought I would have some issues with Math, but just stick to the stuff in the Ati manual and do lots of word problems for practice. My exam had more then I expected....I know the stress your under, but stick to the book and you should be good. Now one thing I will tell you about my test. The lady in charge said we could take some time between the exams. So I thought great. I finished the 1st section and entered yes I was done/complete...Knowing I could take time, I decided to take 10 minutes before I started the next section......well to the surprise, when I clicked on the screen and scrolled down the timer had been going the whole time. I lost 10 minutes to work on the math section. I was able to complete it, but I would have scored 1 or 2 questions better as I rushed the last 2 word problems.....I don't think your going to have any issues if you put in the time. Let me know if you have any specific questions...
