Just got home and my Blue Card was in the mail. I did mine within a day or so of getting the instructions, so I think it was about 5 weeks. The holiday slowed them down. See you all Monday!

I haven't received mine, so I called Austin today and was told it should be here in the next 2 weeks--apparently they are behind. Seems like its been a month. Well nothing we can do, except wait.

Hello George. I just logged on and saw your question in regards to the books. In looking at the Fall 2013 book list, all of them have a copyright date of 2013, so I'm banking on them being the same ones we'll use. I bought the Fundamentals of Nursing and Clinical Calculations book from this list---I actually was able to get them from someone in the program, as they used these for the 8 weeks and were ready to part with them. I plan to buy the Foundations book right after they finish up in a week or so. I found a new Nursing Diagnosis at half price books---crazy. I kinda fell like the someone on death row taking the long walk to the chair.....reading people's posts on what to expect has me a bit nervous.

It was allot of information and I would have loved to have had some question/answer time. Just to get some clarity, but it will all come together.

Hello George. I have spoken to folks at financial aid several times this past week. When I asked when we would be getting our award letter, they said in the next 2 weeks at the latest. Again, even though this will cover the tuition, it will not come arrive in time to cover books for the first semester. Again, this coming from several people in the program. I went ahead and got the Fundamentals of Nursing off Amazon, as the eight seems to be very new. Processing day was a rush. Very quick and really allot of hands on information for what to expect. My friend in the Fall 2014 program has class M-W 9-12 and clinicals on T-F 6:45 to 12-45...I'm actually having lunch with her this week to get some clarity on things. Let me know if have anything you would like me to ask her. Have a good day! Karen

How did your processing day go?

Hey Angelica. I took it at St Mary's and thought I would have some issues with Math, but just stick to the stuff in the Ati manual and do lots of word problems for practice. My exam had more then I expected....I know the stress your under, but stick to the book and you should be good. Now one thing I will tell you about my test. The lady in charge said we could take some time between the exams. So I thought great. I finished the 1st section and entered yes I was done/complete...Knowing I could take time, I decided to take 10 minutes before I started the next section......well to the surprise, when I clicked on the screen and scrolled down the timer had been going the whole time. I lost 10 minutes to work on the math section. I was able to complete it, but I would have scored 1 or 2 questions better as I rushed the last 2 word problems.....I don't think your going to have any issues if you put in the time. Let me know if you have any specific questions...

Hey Angelica. Well don't get crazy over the teas. From people I talked to starting or in the program, there was several people with 75's or just around that. I used the ATI book and found it very helpful. People have varying opinions about it, but that's all I used and passed. I read every page and did every practice test several times. I did the best on science which I expected to do the worst. Go online---google and see what others say about the test. One guy went thru section by section of what to expect and it was an outline of the ATI book with a few tips.....in no way does he questions on the exam but for people who didn't get the ATI book his summary was a good guide. Try putting in taking the Teas here on All nurses and read what others who passed the test wrote. It will help......well I hope this helps and hope it goes well. Let me know how it goes.

Not sure if you made your appt with the nurse, but they were correct when they told us the spots fill up first. I called this past week and I got an appt for the middle November. Just thought I would let you know, as there is sooo many things to do......

Sorry for the late reply. As far as books, I'm going off the list from last semester. I'm sure we can get the details on Processing day. From what I been told, they don't change books every semester, as some schools do. My processing day is this Wednesday and I've written down allot of questions....books, financial aid, how the semesters will run, considering we are starting in Spring. Well good luck with processing day and let me know how it goes for you----and if you hear anything we all should know about. I'll do the same.

Hello to both of you and congrats. I will be starting in the Spring Class. I'm a bit nervous and excited. I have a friend who started this semester so I may be able to give a little info. As far as financial aid, they do it on processing day and it will come together....she had to cover a few books out or pocket as the financial aid check was not received until 2 weeks into the semester. The books for the 1st semester are quite pricey, but I'm looking at buying from people in from the Fall 2013 class. So far she said is has been hard and she has had to put in allot more time then she did for A/P and Micro. We took them together and got A's in them, but she said they go over 3-4 chapters /day and the tests are pretty tough. Well I hope this info helps......I actually like to know what I'm in for, rather then going in blind.........
