Baptist School of Health Professions (BSHP) Spring 2012

U.S.A. Texas

Hey guys. I noticed there isn't a thread for this BSHP program. I just got my admission letter by email a couple minutes ago! :D

Is there anybody else who will be going to this school in the Spring?

Thanks everyone for all the book info... so glad to hear we can save that much money!!! CEGR you read my mind, I was just about to ask the same question.... Where is everyone getting their scrubs from? Is there a certain place we are suppose to find them at/ certain brand we need? I know in processing they mentioned being able to buy "gently" used scrubs from the seniors who are donating them back to the crisis organization but I thought they would go over that information a little more. And too, what kind of shoes we would be needing. Am I the only one lost?

We are supposed to wear Navy Blue scrubs in any style they just have to the Baptist RN student patch on the arm (I am not sure where to get those) and the shoes are supposed to be nursing shoes white or mostly white, and athletic shoes are fine --- this is all from the handbook on their website. I plan to look at the used scrubs they have there, but allheart.com has pretty good sales and TONS of styles of scrubs, shoes and accessories like stethoscopes and such.

Is anyone having an issue making an appointment for the health screen?? I called this morning and had to leave a message and tried again with still no answer??

Scrubs can be bought anywhere...even Walmart. They have to be navy blue with no other trim or color. The patches are sold at BSHP fro $4 each. Shoes have to be white, either nursing or athletic shoes but all white...no color. I looked at the scrubs and they were pretty worn after the seniors had them for 2 years. There were some nicer x-small and smalls but that didn't work for me. I got my health screening scheduled today after 5 phone calls and an email. I was told by a current student that they will offer a package deal with a stethescope and other good stuff for $88. She said it was a really good deal. I hope this helps.

That's ridiculous. I should have scheduled mine on Friday when I was there. Ive called several times and left messages. I'm going to try again in the morning. Who did you e-mail? John?:uhoh3:

I emailed the health nurse. Her email address is on the bottom of the information letter she handed out on Friday. It is [email protected] and I copied John Fry. She just told me to call the number, hit 2, then 0 and talk to Christine. The other option is to call the main number and ask them to put you through and let them know you don't want a voice mail. I do not believe this is normal as John, and everyone else has always been very prompt at returning phone calls, etc.

Hello, I'd like to know how many semesters is the adn? And I've read something before about in the summer semester they allow you to take prereqs, what prereqs are they?

And are the semesters straight through or is there a break, for instance, summer?

So for all the questions lol but are you able to work during the program? Or do they recommend you not to work? And what's the course load like per semester?

Also, for the prereqs, do they only calculate intro to psych, ap1, and ap2, and micro?

It is 5 semester, including one summer semester. You have to take the pre-reqs before you begin the program; general education courses are in the summer. Their website is very informative. Pre-reqs are A&P 1 and 2, Microbiology and general Psychology.

oh ok, just checking, I know on this thread people posted prereq gpa's of 3.8 etc and was just wondering if those four prereqs were the only ones applied for that gpa. In that one summer do they have you take gen ed courses like nutrition, etc? and if you have no gen courses to take are you allowed to continue with the nursing courses or do you have the summer off?
