Hi a little background of myself first! I'm returning back to school in January 2018 after taking 2 years off from my 2nd child being born. I currently have A&P1 & 2 and my teas test left then I can apply for the program!! I have two girls 9 1/2 and 2 1/2 along with my husband who is currently not working. I have always been the stay at home parent and have taken care of the home while my husband worked hard and provided for our family. (We recently relocated to be closer to my husbands family and my husband is in the process of changing careers but is still undecided what he wants to do. He wont be doing school.) So everyone is clear the family nearby cant help out too much but can help some, so I don't plan on relying on them for too much, my mother in law has some health issues and aunt and uncle still work full time. My question is how do you all balance school with family? I will only be taking 1 class per quarter so I can get back in the groove of things. I would like to use the next year to prepare my family and myself for when Im in school full time. What does your day to day schedule like in nursing school, pre-nursing school, with kids after school activities, excersise, dinner, studying, family time and cleaning the house? my husband will help take care of the house but he isnt the best at doing it everyday, and I cant function in a messy house so I will be helping with cleaning. Thank you for all your input! I know my life will be a little crazy until I can get a schedule down pat. Oh boy. Im in it for the long haul! :)

I'm probably not the most qualified to answer this question because I'm single and I'm 22. However, I work fulltime and it can be quite a struggle but its doable for sure. Most of my classes are in the evening or online and a majority of my classmates are in your predicament. Lol stay at home moms or moms who've taken some time off of work and school make up a large percentage of the student body in Nursing, (at least in my school it does) and they seem to be doing just fine. I've noticed in talking to some of them that most of them have been going to school part time. And for some of the science pre-reqs thats probably best because they require a lot of time for studying. I think you should be fine! Good Luck!!!

Hi there,
I get you 100 percent. Im in a similar place, as I have 2 kids and am back in school. I am not working at the moment and my husband works to support us. We do not have any family to help us what so ever. So weve depended heavily on eachother, the occasional babysitter, and YMCA childcare so I can study. Its totally doable. Over the summer I did developmental psych and english 1 and finished with As. This semester im finishing up AP1, ENG2, Stats, with high grades so far. Next semester im doing AP2 and Chem so I know that will require some work. Ive been busy but nothing too extreme. Its a matter of having ways to destress during the semester and studying whenever youre available. Good luck im pretty sure itll all work out!

Hi. I'm a mother of 2 boys (ages 12 & 4). I'm trying to apply to the Fall 2018 nursing program. I currently work full-time overnight doing registration in an emergency room. It has not been easy for me and I'm still trying to find balance. Im finishing up A&P 1 and Statistics now and already signed up for A&P2 & lifespan development psychology. My study habits are horrible and it's pribably because I have so much to do on little sleep daily. Still trying to potty train my 4yr old as well(LOL). I feel like I'm in the same boat as you with trying to find ideas on how to maintain balance. There are quite some days where I've wanted to give up. I don't think my grade for A&P 1 will be good but we'll see in 2 weeks.
