  1. Hello; I have been working in and Emergency Room for around 5 years now as a patient registrar and currently as a ER Tech. I recently passed my boards last month. I was told by my manager back in February that they would hold a opening for me but then Covid hit and the hospital went on a hiring freeze and because I had nothing in writing I couldn’t transfer over. I don’t know what to do now. I really wanted to stay there as I have so much experience there and it’ll be better to learn my skills as a nurse somewhere I’m familiar with. Because I’m a single parent realistically working there is the option that fits the situation I’m in at this time. Should I just wait it out a little longer? Has anyone else didn’t get a job right out of school or after passing boards?
  2. I start my nursing program in the fall. I have to work full-time (single mom). Currently I work overnight with a 7on/7off schedule which I'm hoping will make things run smoothly when it comes to studying, clinicals, etc. Good Luck!!!
  3. Don't believe that would affect your chances. I got accepted into my Fall 2018 nursing program. I did get a C in A&P 1 however which was the only C I've ever gotten. Good Luck
  4. I will be starting nursing in the Fall. I work full time overnight and have 2 kids. I'll technically be considered part-time (credit wise) when I start school because I did all my other non nursing classes before applying to the program so just clinicals and nursing classes are left . I'm a single parent so I don't have the option of not working. I only took out a small student loan just to cover the nursing school fees
  5. Sorry to hear about your grade. You should try and find out what was your weak points during the class. Also if you do decide to go to another school just make sure you are aware of the requirements. The school I attend doesn't accept anything lower than a C in a science to apply to nursing. I start nursing in the Fall. I got a C in A&P1 and a B in A&P2. Good Luck!!!
  6. Hello I work in an emergency room doing patient registrations. Besides just working in a hospital I really have no medical knowledge except for what I see and hear. Most of the nurses have told me that it doesn't matter whether you have a medical background going into a nursing program. Many have said that nursing schools teach by the book fundamentals but when you get out there in real life and actually become a nurse you'll see how things are different. GOOD LUCK!!!
  7. I believe my study habits is my issue which I'm working on. I guess if she finds out what her issues were she could probably figure out a solution to help
  8. Does getting C's in A&P 1 and 2 determine how good you will do in nursing. I have a friend that I met in school while doing prerequisites. We both got into the nursing program for next semester. She's starting to doubt herself on if she's capable of getting through nursing just because she got a C in both. I don't know what words of encouragement to give her to ease her fear!!!
  9. Depends on the school that you're applying to. At the school I applied to they go by a point system so there was a lot of ways to get points. you did get specific points depending on if you had a previous bachelors or associates degree. Good Luck
  10. Are there any programs around you that offer night or weekend classes. That might be something to look into as an option
  11. My school is 5 minutes from me. I was so happy when I got into the nursing program speaking that it was the only one I could apply to. There was a few other choices in the area about 45 minutes t an hour away but I knew that it would be a problem getting to the clinical sites that the other schools used and the school due to my work schedule and kids..
  12. Hello. I'm 33 and have an Associates in Administration. I currently work in an Emergency Room doing patient registration. I just got into a nursing program for Fall 2018. I must say that it has been somewhat scary making a big decision like nursing. Trying to go to school, work full-time and take care of 2 kids is going to be a challenge but there is no other option!!! Good luck
  13. Congrats on your entry. I got accepted into my nursing program and I feel like I have a million questions but not enough answers. Good luck!!!
  14. So I was so excited when I found out that I got excepted into my nursing program for Fall 2018 even though I had my doubts. I'm just finishing up A&P 2 this semester. I got a C in A&P 1 but I feel like I'm doing a little better in A&P 2. But I'm on a chapter about blood vessels and I feel like I have no idea what any of this stuff means in my A&P book. Now I'm wondering if I'm smart enough to actually go through this nursing program. I don't have any medical knowledge, I just work in an emergency room doing registrations. I know it's going to be harder. I just don't know what to do or if I'm just going to be making a fool of myself. Thanks for listening!!!
  15. Hello. Not sure how your community college works but I assumed it would go by how many classes you're willing to take per semester and which classes you would be taking. There are some classes that you can't take first without taking something else. Good luck
