Bakersfield College Fall 2018

Published

Starting this thread to hopefully get an idea of the point system at BC now that it's no longer a lucky hat. I'm applying for Fall 2018 and have applied for another program too. Have yet to take my TEAS 6, but I will soon. GPA is not too strong and I dont have a lvn license or paramedic... that gives +10 points. 😩

Congrats to those of you chosen as an alternate or are conditionally enrolled! Unfortunately, I was not selected :( I was wondering, did any of you complete the remediation program? I am pretty bummed out, because I did, and then with this new system, they got rid of the remediation program unless you had to do it for failing the TEAS, which was not my case. I was deemed ineligible by 2 points on the old system, so I spent A LOT of time and money completing the classes to make me eligible. Then they changed to this new system, and I was told that I was allowed to apply this one semester, and if I didn't get in, "that's it!" tough luck! I am so bummed out, just wondering if anyone else on here had a similar experience.

I think you can try retaking the classes you need elsewhere like porterville or cerrocosso , and they will take those grades instead of the BC ones. Don't quote me on that though. You can always try LVN to RN. That's what I'm trying to do if I'm selected for LVN first. Dont get discourage; there's other routes to become and RN.

I didn't receive anything??? Hmm? Anyone else?

Just received an email they had to push notices out until tomorrow by 12pm.

Hi everyone, is there anyone else who has not received an email at all in their Bakersfield College email? I checked my spam folder and nothing there either. I know I met the deadline. :(

I m alternate too but don't know how it works!!

This was my 3rd time applying and not accepted. My husband applied twice, on his 2nd application he was waitlist #13 then after teas he moved to waitlist #5 but he still started the program within the application period he applied for. He is now in his 3rd semester.

Who told you that you had this semester to apply and get in otherwise tough luck? Did you meet with a counselor to review your transcript? What did your denial letter say today? Did it say you do not meet qualifications or something? Just curious cause I also had to do remediation program but I had not been informed about being ineligible with new point system application....

So apparently the waitlist is still based on points!

Did you get your rejection today April 12th?

Yes i got my rejection at 8am this morning April 12th

I just had the chance to check my email and I have been conditionally accepted.

Hi RNAVARRO13,

I noticed your name on the CSUB thread as well; if you are accepted there, which are you choosing?! And how many semesters of applying to both programs is this for you, if you don't mind me asking?

I was told this by the nursing counselor Vanessa, that I and other in my shoes would be made eligible for application one semester only, and then we would be judged via the new criteria going forward. I am not able to retake A&P to get better grades because I currently have passing grades. Therefore, Admissions and Records would not accept my retakes, and I would consequently only be penalized for having retakes on my future applications. Therefore I am ineligible moving forward because my science pre-reqs (that are 7 years old) come out to a 2.4 GPA. My denial letter said that I was eligible but not selected.
