I am just starting out with my pre-reqs at baker. How hard is A&P 1 and does it get much harder?
I know I'm going off the subject but from what I'm reading on here it is very difficult to get in the program. I'm gonna try my best. Wish me luck!
I'm sorry for your loss.I will definately check first. It just started Thursday. It is tough, alot of writing papers in MLA format. I haven't been in school in years and don't remember writing too many papers.
There has to be an easier comp class
Are you at Baker??? Because if you are, and you drop this class now, IT WILL BE COUNTED AGAINST you!!! Just a word of warning. Like Gemberly I also had to withdrawl from a class, due to personal reasons, but I withdrew BEFORE the class even started and it STILL counted against me and I have a point against me now. So I know that I will not get into Baker this spring...
The best part for me was that the class wasn't even used to figure out GPA for the program the last acceptance period. I could have gotten a B- and gotten in, because I only had to get the minimum score.
I hate that part of their criteria. I think it is over the top and excludes people who have good reasons and foresight to try to manage their jobs as students with their other responsibilities. But whatever.
Sorry, it happened to you, too, Panky.

The worse part of the comp classes is when you get into Comp II they switch the papers to APA format on you.

Dang, they held it against you even before it started? That is soooo wrong!
How do you know that it goes against you, is it somewhere on the online transcript? I have dropped several classes several weeks before they started, I wonder if I took a hit on them.

Baker says they are so worker and family friendly, yeah right. I had to take a B- in one of my science classes because I had a really bad teacher, I do not think anyone made it out of that class with a good grade. I wanted to drop it but couldn't because it would go against me.

I so sorry gemberly for your loss...I wish there were words I could say, besides I am sorry. I have been there. My son died when he was little. It was a long time ago but it still hurts...But I know I carry him around with me in my heart.
It was totally wrong the way Baker handled my dropping of the class. I asked them 3 times, before I signed the slip of paper if this would be held against me, and ALL three times they told me NO!!!! Yeah, guessss what!!!! My husband goes berserk when anything comes up now about Baker and nursing....He goes on a rampaige about how they keep saying there is a shortage of nurses but no one can get into the programs....We just went through it again this morning when I brought up, my mistake, of trying for surg tech or going in the back way....LOL oh well, I can only hope that I will get there.
What is the 3 page paper on?? Most instructors don't expect you to be perfect on the first paper. You make the mistakes, then fine tune it to their expectations. The next paper you have more of an idea on what to expect.
That is very true what gemberly just said, who do you have??? MLA isn't that hard to do, I can pm you a copy of a paper that I did, for your reference. Also check out by the library, there is handouts, and I think the MLA one was green and it had great examples on it for you. Any help you need just ask...

I would ask before you drop it, if it will come up as a W on your transcript or not. That is what happened to me. I was newly pregnant, had 13 credit hours and my daughter had died the year before. Every story in the book (it was literature based) had something to do with dying, or cancer or something like that. It was too much for me, and I *thought* I dropped before it would count against me.
I was wrong, and it kept me from getting into the program this time around. I would just ask before you do anything.
