what do you plan to do if you don't get into your nursing program? will you wait and reapply or will you apply at another college and relocate, or will you stay at your current college and switch majors?

I started my college journey at an out-of-state college just last year. I got into their nursing school, but then I did a 360 and started off as a pre-med major fall semester. I eventually went back to wanting to pursue nursing because I learned pre-med wasn't what I wanted to do with my life. So I was put on the waiting list for the nursing school and no additional spots opened for clinicals and I was in a bit of a dilemma. I was devastated that I didn't get a spot and was kicking myself for switching out of nursing in the first place! :banghead: I decided to apply to a college back home (that my mom wanted me to go to all along :chuckle) and luckily I got in! :heartbeat I feel that I will be much happier at the college I'm going to now, and I will save a lot of money! ;) My advice is to always keep trying everywhere and RESEARCH what you need to do to get in. IMHO, BSN programs aren't too bad to get into; even though I do understand why people choose the ASN-it's a personal choice. You may have to take out loans in whichever route you decide, but there will always be opportunities for nursing scholarships, state, local, and need-based financial aid from the FAFSA, and tuition reimbursements at hospitals...you just have to look for them online, through the schools, and the hospitals! You can also apply to CNA programs with different hospitals-and gain good experience. If this is what you really wanna do, then always go for it-and never give up. Good luck to everyone and sorry about the long post, but I wish you all the best. :loveya:

I am taking 3 pre-reqs this semester. A&P I, Chemistry, and a computer class. Once I have those done my plan is to apply to community college in February while taking A&P II my last prerequisite. In my state you can send in one community college application for up to 3 community colleges with nursing programs. I will also apply to 2 other ADN programs in my state which are my last choices cause they are way more expensive and I don’t want anymore student loans if I don’t have to have them (this will be my third degree, BA in English, MS in Management). If I don’t get into any of those, I will first apply to the state LPN program which is about 3,000 total, if I don’t get in there I will apply to a technical school for an LPN and do a bridge right after. If none of those work I’ll probably just cry and try again next year. Right now my transfer credits (core) are a 3.41. The ADN program I really want to go to says the average gpa of accepted students was a 3.4. So if I do well in my prerequisites I have to believe I have a shot at getting in my first choice.

If I had not gotten in, I would have switched my major to Health Administration and then been ****** off LOL:yeah:
