If you get all "Near the Passing Standard" do you still fail???
Do you have to get an "Above the Passing Standard" to all the 8 Categories in the NCLEX???

According to Kaplan, you do have to have above the passing standard. And once the computer calculates that you have had enough percentage above the passing standard... you pass. If not you fail. If you are near the passing... the computer will give you more questions untill you reach above or below. If you are near all the way, you will fail with 265Q

NCLEX is designed so that the vast majority of students answer only 50 percent of the questions correctly. This test works like a balancing beam: if you answer questions correctly, the computer throws progressively harder questions right back at you. If you miss questions, the computer spits out questions that are deemed to be 'easy.' The point is to answer as many questions correctly as possible that are at or above a certain level of difficulty. Therefore, very few people leave the test center feeling absolutely certain that they passed. This is all known as computer adaptive testing (CAT).
