Greetings everyone.
I am new to this site and a new graduate. I have worked as a CNA in a local hospital for the past 2 years while attending nursing school. I recently graduated, passed my boards and have a job on the PCCU floor at my hospital. A week after passing boards HR at my hospital continued to contact me about my license # after passing state boards. They need my actual license number befor I could start my new RN position. I wasn't concerned at first because I thought it may take up to a week or more for the state to post my actual license number. It wasn't until I recieved further prodding from HR that I called the boards to find out a hold had been placed on my license. Although I answered yes to the Felony, Gross misdameanor and misdameanor question ( this question is asked when you register with the board to take NCLEX) I had thought everything was fine since I was able to take state boards. A secretary at the state office informed me a flag/hold was placed on my license due to a 5th degree assault (that happened when I was 17; I'm currently 30) and a wreckless driving that happened in 2005. I decided to disclose the 5th degree assault because I figured honesty was the best policy and now I'm regretting because I feel like I cut my own throat. The board requested all my court documentation along with details of each event, any nursing-related jobs I've held within the past 5 years and future nursing plans in Minnesota. I compiled all this information and the board has recieved the information. It's been over a week and I've heard nothing from the nursing board; I realize that any nurses with a "flag situation" needs to be investigated but the stress is killing me and the whole situation seems impersonal. I am currently still working as a CNA and luckily my new manager has decided to hold my RN position for me. I'm hoping this sitiuation gets cleared up sooner than later. My family (wife and 18 month old son) have been counting on this new postion & added income, student loans need to be paid. Has anyone had a similar situation or any advice/ input?
Thank you
