Average unit manager pay?

A few months ago I accepted a new position that is essentially a unit manager. I have my own unit of 20 stable LTC patients, and then I also oversee a 25 bed rehab unit. I do all the paperwork, assessments, phone calls, etc. The med nurse in the rehab side is supposed to do a lot of the desk work as well, but he doesn't because he is "too busy". I am feeling very stressed and taken advantage of. I have spoken to the DON with no effect. I am going to have another conversation saying if I have these responsibilities with no help from the floor nurse, then I want a pay raise. How much do you unit managers make per hour? I know pay varies state to state. I work in Massachusetts.

Specializes in New Critical care NP, Critical care, Med-surg, LTC.

I don't know whether that's considered a supervisor position for your facility. In my facility supervisor pay is $1.25/hr more than a charge nurse. I work a similar position to yours and my pay is the same as a charge nurse- I'm in CT and new RN pay is about $26/hr.

What type of other administrative duties do you have? Are you in an on-call rotation? Do you have any MDS responsibilities? Do you attend team conferences ? Do you do the nursing schedule ? ( sorry for all the questions!) I have been a nurse manager in three facilities and the job requirements/expectations can vary greatly from facility to facility. The position usually is salaried and pays 1-2 dollars more than the staff nurses.
