Average Cost of Insurance

Would anyone mind sharing what they pay for health insurance (if it's through their place of work)? My husband is AD military, and we've used Tricare for several years. If he doesn't reenlist he's considering working in the civilian job market or going to law school - should he choose the latter option, then we'll purchase insurance through my employer (wherever that might be; we're currently stationed in South Korea).

I would like to compare benefits packages from a few different prospective employers (hopefully I'll have that option!) but am curious about what to expect. What's the average premium per month for a family plan? What is the deductible, and are there cost-shares? Prescription costs? I've tried searching online but have not been able to turn up specific numbers, only that different institutions offer "competitive" benefits. Thank you in advance for your replies.

Oh! Our co-pays are $25 for the doctor, but it is the same for both PCP and specialists, which is nice since my husband and I both see specialists.

Thanks so much for your replies thus far! I'm hoping to have a ballpark of what types of "competitive" packages are out there; this way I know what to look for and what would be completely outrageous should we purchase civilian insurance.

I opted out of benefits at my workplace in order to be paid 25% more (it comes out to about $5 more an hour). The insurance offerred wasn't that great anyway, monthly premium for a family was around $250 with a $1,500 deductible per person.

My kids are insured through my husband, we pay around $150 a month for dental for all of us and medical for the little ones. My husband's premium is payed by his employer, and I'm insured through a private plan for $110 a month.

My husband is retired military, so we pay $460/year for family health care through Tricare. Dental is $95 or so per month. If we didn't have it through him, my current employer's health plan is close to $500 per month (employee share) for a family. When I worked directly for a state, I paid $50 per month for my husband and me and just did that because it offered better care than Tricare and it was a nice supplement to the Tricare. Insurance varies tremendously and can range from under $100 a month for a family to well over $500 per month for a family.
