Hello everyone! I looked on here and didn’t see that anyone had started a thread for Antelope Valley College RN program Spring of 2022 so I figured I would start one. ? I just applied, and I was wondering if anyone knows how we find out the amount of points we are given in the application process? I saw another thread from years ago where people from AVC were posting their points, but no one had been active on it for a while. Looking forward to chatting with you all! ?
Thank you guys for responding with your points. It does help a lot. I only had 55 so that explains a lot LOL I just need to figure out the best way to get more points. I got a 78 for my TEAS so I’ll take teas7 and try to retake micro to improve my bio GPA since that was my only C :(((
thanks again for replying with your points ?

Yeah, I had 55 points as well and didn’t get accepted. By reading the previous chats on here it seems like the number was 65 or higher so I kinda figured. ?I’m in the same boat as you but I got a 92 on my TEAS test. At least we tried though. Congrats again to those who got in. ?

I received a denial letter in the mail. It was dated November 15th

I think mine was 75 or 79. Im not sure how the calculated it. But I got a 72 on my TEAS but I had two Bs and and A for my prequisites and my work and degree helped with getting more points as well as knowing another language. Best of luck!
Hi! For anyone who got in do we have a facebook group where we can all chat? It might help when we're in class and stuff.
Hi everyone, first of all, congrats to everyone who got accepted! That is such amazing news! I just wanted to ask those who got accepted what your total points were. Additionally, what was your overall Pre-Req GPA, and if you had any healthcare experience prior?
Also, were you a student at AVC already, or did you transfer from another school. I'm currently taking my Pre-Req classes at another school, so I wasn't sure if that was okay.

Hi! First of all thank you! My total points were probably around 75 to 78. Im not entirely sure.
My prequisites GPA was 3.33 two Bs and one A. I've worked in health care for almost 5 years in physical therapy. I also had my bachelors degree as well.
I was not a student at AVC I took my classes all over. So when I applied I made sure ALL of my transcripts were ordered ahead of time. AVC had a very strict detailed way they want the transcripts to be the to them.
What really helped me a lot were my experience and my other language also. I also applied to 11 schools in California. Heard from 3 and rejected from a few. So apply! Don't hesitate and if you're worried about loans or something think of it this way. As a nurse you'll have a good stable career you can pay it back. And most bs programs are still cheaper than post graduate programs.
Anyways I hope this helps! Best of luck the next round and thank you again! Don't lose hope!

Thanks! Hopefully you can get in too when it’s your time to apply. I’m an AVC student and did all my prereqs there. 4.0 science, A in math, B in English, and no prior healthcare experience. I think I got a total of 75 points. Just do really well on your TEAS, get the highest grades you can, and apply to multiple schools. Good luck!

Awesome! Thank you for the reply! I had a question, for the second language, how were you able to prove that you spoke it? Did you take three years of it in high school or something else? For example, I speak a second language at home, but I never took any courses of it in school or anything. So, I wasn't sure what to do.
As for the transcript part, I am also a student from another school. So I will have to do the same. Thank you for pointing that out.
Lastly, do you mind me asking what the other 3 schools were that you heard back from? Again thank you so much for your help and congrats again!!

Hi!
There's a 2nd language verification form you can get. I speak another language at home also.
As for the schools, I got into west coast but they take everyone and they're super expensive. Mt. Sac and lastly was antelope valley.
AVC was the most detailed application I had to do. So make sure that you read the pdf they have. It has so many little details and tells you exactly what to do. Like a counseling appointment and etc.
Also they have open enrollment they take applications year round for the program. And have a deadline. So you'll have plenty of time to gather your stuff and just turn them in as soon as possible.
