AVC RN FALL 2023

Published

Hello, I thought I’d start this forum for any students with questions, planning to apply to AVC’s Fall RN 2023.
I currently have 45 points overall and still have yet to take the TEAS. My goal is to get at least an 82% so I can get the 20 points to increase my points to 65. Other than that, I’m not sure how else to raise my points since I don’t have any other certification. I know Spanish but I don’t have anyone to sign the form for it…

How'd you do on the TEAS btw???

Thank you! I'll be dropping off my application Monday!
I got an 84%! I ended up having loading issues from their end during the last 6 problems. It took like 20 minutes of loading until I figured out I could close the exam then log in and continue again however it still took forever to load & get me into the actual exam again.

Congrats! That's a fantastic score! ??that you get in!

Do you guys know what changed for the point system?

For the RN program, it's still out of 100 points but there are just more chances for points I believe. Like you can get points if for more certificates like respiratory therapist, etc.. or if you took all prereqs at avc or if you have a certain amount of hours worked or volunteered at a hospital working with patients. You would just need to add in additional forms to your application for the hours or other certificates you have

If you go to the avc website you can see the updated point distribution for the RN program

Also, for those who applied to the RN program already, would you mind sharing how many points you've applied with? I'm debating whether to apply to the lvn program as a backup

I just dropped off my application packet on Wens. I just sent the transcript from ATI, I didn't include it with my application because it doesn't say to attach it in the application steps on the AVC's RN webpage. It says has to be on file with health and safety sciences, which when I met with AVC counselor they said that means on file with student services/admissions and records the nursing department has access to the info.

But in addition to sending the TEAS transcript to the school, if you feel safer also attaching a printout with your application packet definitely do that too.

Where did you drop your application off? I'm going to hand deliver mine as well but I've never been to the campus I'm just assuming the Health and Safety Sciences Building Uhazy hall?

Hello,

I'm applying to the LVN to RN bridge. If I calculated my score correctly then I'm applying with 75 points. The nursing counselor said the lowest score accepted last semester was 55 points but I'm not sure if that is with or without including points from TEAS scores.

I'm sure that's probably including the TEAS score.

Does anyone know what the first semester of the LVN to RN program is like?  I know we have to take a course in the Summer and then we join the 3rd semester RN students in the fall. The nursing counselor said we meet like 8 times and they just kind of gauge where we are with our skills. But im wondering what they are going to test us on?
