LVN program at AVC
Published
Hi there! I know I am a little early on creating this article, but I am planning to apply for the the AVC LVN program for Fall 2020 admission. I was told applications will be available December 2019 and will be accepted the beginning of the year. Curious to see if anyone else is interested in the same program or if there's anyone that has already been through the process?
I picked up my application last week. I tried figuring out how intense the schedule is going to be because I HAVE to work at least full time while in school as I am the sole financial provider in my family (my husband is home bound and disabled). When I spoke to someone in the nursing office last year, they said that it would be M-F, program, which is expected and I get that, but from what I heard, some days you get out early and some days you get out later, it's not like consistently 7 am-5 pm everyday kwim? But when I tried to look at the past schedule of classes, to figure it out, it was even more confusing. Does anyone know anyone who has already done the LVN program at AVC that might have the weekly LVN schedule laid out that they would be willing to share that I can look at? I just really want to be well prepared and realistic as far as how I will need to adjust my work schedule to accommodate LVN program.
hello all,
I was reading some of the comments, yes they do it by point system. However, about the biology classes, I as well was told the this program was created for students who want to do RN but don't meet the qualifications. Let me give you a little background of me. I have my bachelors and I was accepted to MSMU the Accelerated RN program. This program was super fast pace and expensive. Living 2hr and 40 min away from the school did not help and I couldn't move out their because I have a daughter and they don't allow you to work and do the program. So I decided to not continue. I figured I will apply to AVC Rn program, unfortunately because I had a withdraw and I took micro twice because my first teacher was horrible I got a D when I retook it I got an A. So its not about being dumb and not able to pass a class people go through things in life and everyone has a reason. However, I do think its dumb that they say you only need BIO 100 but in reality If you don't have additional classes you have a low chance of getting in. Oh yeah I had the wrong Communication class for the AVC RN program too. Which is dumb because I have a higher COMM class and I my bachelors is in Public Health. So I am still hesitant about this program I am emailing the RN Director with a couple questions. If she gets back to me I will post them on here.
I just turned in my application Last week for the RN program for he Fall semester. I was just wondering if anyone is willing to share the amount of points they have for the point system. I have 55 points. I’m just curious what the average amount of points are. I was told we should get our acceptance or waitlist letters by mid May. Has anyone else heard he same or possibly something different?
So from what I understand, as soon as you apply, as long as you turn in everything that is required, you are automatically put on a waitlist. They take people with the highest points first. Also, it’s a lot harder to get accepted for Fall semester because they take a certain amount of LVN’s before they take from the generic RN waitlist. That’s my understanding anyway. Are you an LVN?
