Autocracy in Nursing - student needs help!!

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hey all, I only just found this site now that I'm in my final semester of Uni in Australia. Why could I have not found this sooner!! Anyway, this is a great site and I'm sure I'll be able to find out great stuff to keep me going once I start work as an RN.

Well back to the topic at hand, I've been told to write an essay on Autocracy in nursing and I can't for the life of me find anything that suggests nursing is an Autocratic profession. I was hoping that maybe some of you who have been working in the field for a while tell me if this is true or should I argue against it? I can't convince myself that Autocracy is used in nursing so I don't know how I'm supposed to convince others?? Oh well, I won't ramble on. Thanks for any help that you can pass along, or if you agree that this is a stupid subject then feel welcome to express your feelings with me :angryfire

we are governed by our state boards of nursing. they issue our licenses and they can take them away.

this should be a start for your research. good luck.

Thanks for the quick reply Leslie, that definitely sounds like the approach to take. Thanks again :)
