Just wondering who else is waiting on acceptance for Fall 2009 for ACC? I am about to go crazy waiting till May 1st!
I figured that out the hard way after I got my first set of ranking points in the fall. I was thinking they would be using my nursing classes only, and they used the co-reqs too! That is something I wished I'd known from the beginning! Oh well, live and learn. It would be nice if they'd clear up the wording on their webpage. It is definitely misleading...
Now I am debating retaking something this summer to bump up my overall GPA a couple of points for the Spring 2010. Couldn't hurt I guess?
I didn't get in for the Fall semester I was #124 out of 120 accepted and I had 48 points. But I'm ok with it now. Everything happens the way it is supposed to and I know that when I reapply (on July 8th - the day after I finish my speech class) I will be receiving an acceptance letter for Spring semester. Good luck to those of you who made it!!
@mwski
I'm sorry! You were soooo close! I was devastated last week. Now I am trying to look on the bright side. Well, the only thing I can think of..I can save more money now.
I bet you will get a spot for the Fall 2009 though. I mean you are 4th in line. So if only 4 people out of 120 decide to defer, you are in!!
Yeah, but I may not take a spot if one gets offered. Before I got the second email from ACC, I had already accepted the outcome and I can see the bright side of starting in the spring, including saving more money, helping my youngest daughter start high school, helping my oldest daughter start college, having a semester to take an easy course or two or NOT. Besides with the economy the way it is right now and the hiring freezes at the local hospitals, I'm not in such a hurry to get done!
That all being said, if the "magic" email comes, I'll have to make a decision then but not now!
mwski,
I'm sorry you didn't make it. You were sooooo close! You bring up some very good points, too. From everything I've been told, it's tough getting a job as a new RN in Austin right now, and it may well be the case in other cities, too. You might graduate in time for an upswing in the market. Saving money can't hurt either! I'm going to be working my tail off this summer to sock away more money to pay the bills while I'm in school. I have a daughter going into middle school in the fall, and I'm a bit worried about not being present enough as she makes the transition.
You have a great attitude. Good luck in the spring!

I called to confirm - they do count BOTH pre and co-reqs in the GPA calculation for the ranking.
This all can be very confusing!?! :)
