Austin Community College ADN Spring 2021

Published

Hello friends,

I know it's extremely early for this, but I wanted to create a forum for the Spring 2021 applicants for ACC! We can keep in touch here if anyone has questions about the application process or just the program in general. Happy applying y'all! I'm excited to start my future career as a nurse!

Okay, thank you guys!! I didn't realise deadline extensions were possible

You need to contact your site clinical instructor. Thats why they said to get started on your lists early because of the test results. There is also mention of some students not being able to start the program because of missing deadlines.

For us, the clinical site instructor didn't have anything to do with the clinical clearance ticket. It's typically Sheila for EVC and Lela for CEC, not sure for round rock. But they are the ones who do all the clearance for clinical and send that out to the facilities. They do say those things and there are circumstances where you might miss being able to start the program, but for a TB result, they've typically been understanding if it's going to be a few days/ week ish later!

Just depends on the circumstance and what it is. Don't be afraid to reach out to them, they're typically very understanding but obviously in the future you'll want to get it done a little sooner so you don't have to stress! You got this!

Yeah, I think I've learned my lesson LOL. I booked my appointment as soon as I got the 'next steps' letter, but unfortunately the earliest they could do was Dec 4. I probably should've asked other places though. And thank you, I really appreciate you replying to all of my questions!

I'm about to graduate from EVC (like after Monday's final). If you ever need anything feel free to reach out! [email protected] I wish I would have had someone who I knew in the program before I started, so I like to pay it forward!

You have to enter in that first class and there's like even a package amount. It might be worth it to call when the bookstore is open... I'll follow to wait to other answers too. I fortunately inherited someone's books that just graduated!

I have a question for y'all!  I didn't get in for Spring but have reapplied for fall.  My husband and I have been talking a lot about how we will manage being on 1 income for 2 years.  He is super nervous about it.  We talked about me doing the evening/ weekend LVN program instead so I could work through school.  I really almost registered for the TEAS test (to get into the program) today but then I thought...no, I took all those pre-recs, I took nursing skills and ethics, and I want to see this through with the ADN program.  My question is, is it at all possible to work while you're in the program?  Even if I could work a part time job to pay for tuition that would help immensely.  I just can't give up my goal of going through the ADN program after all the work I've put in.

A lot of people work while going to school. Something with a flexible schedule is good, like service industry jobs or if you can get a job as a PCT in a hospital.

Hey! I worked PRN through almost the whole program. I had classmates that worked part time +. Especially in the last semester with lectures being online I had some classmates that worked full time. Stick with the ADN program, it's doable!! The first semester might be a little challenging because that's the steepest learning curve, but just be on top of your time management and be OK with a little less sleep and you will be just fine!!
