Austin Community College ADN Spring 2021

Published

Hello friends,

I know it's extremely early for this, but I wanted to create a forum for the Spring 2021 applicants for ACC! We can keep in touch here if anyone has questions about the application process or just the program in general. Happy applying y'all! I'm excited to start my future career as a nurse!

Specializes in Cardiac RN.

Hello y’all! My name is Kristen and I’m currently finishing up level 4 of the nursing program (at EVC, but did my skills class at REC)! I wanted to reach out to see if any of y’all who are going to be starting the program are in need of scrubs! I have a few I’d like to pass on! And of course any encouragement/advice/insight! Good luck and congrats to all of you!

Sorry in advance, I'm asking a lot of possibly dumb questions here but I was wondering if anyone filled out the Student Reference/FERPA form yet?

If you did, did you ask/email someone to become your reference or did you just put a name and submitted it without asking your reference person? And what did you check on the list, because I'm not sure if I'm supposed to fill this out for "admission to another education institution"/"all educational institutions to which I seek admission" or just leave all those blank since the ADN program is still within ACC so technically I'm not going to another institution??

I feel like I'm overthinking something that's supposed to be super easy to do LOL

It’s so professors can write a letter of recommendation for you to give out to hospitals or schools! Most will write them anyways, so don’t stress too much!!

OMG this is so nice! I’m interested! What size? Does it have the campus you’re at on them because I’m at the RRC campus!

Is Caribbean blue considered teal? That’s all I found for figs and Cherokee infinity.

I found some called “turquoise” and also “teal blue” for cherokee infinity. I’m not sure which one is better though

Figs Caribbean blue is not teal. Their teal is a limited release. You might find them on Poshmark or there's a Figs Buy/Sell/Trade group on FB. They do color drops on Tuesday nights on their app too, but you never know what colors are releasing!

I'm not sure about the Cherokee. You can always look in person at a scrub store and then order from Amazon.

ACC usually offers one. I took mine at RC Health Services.

I found a class through here. I did the online version & went in the next day for the in person instruction. It was super easy & fast. Castlebranch already accepted it! Just make sure the class says BLS.

Who exactly did you take it online through? Because I emailed My administrator Malanie about ordering the heart code BLS online class from AHA website and she said that wouldn’t be approved even though it has the in class component also. She said It must be an American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider certification. Being able to take a portion of it online would work so much better with my work schedule

How much was yours? Bc I'm trying to schedule mine right now and the teachers price is 85 and I feel like I paid waaay less the first time I got my BLS certification

The online portion was $31 & the in person was $100. So $131 in total. I definitely feel like I partially paid for the convenience because it was so easy & fast
