Nursing Students School Programs

Hi pre-nursing students!

So I know it's extremely early but I figured I'd go ahead and start a thread for Spring 2020 applicants. I'm a huge worry bug and have tons of questions and would love to give and receive advice throughout this process. I'm completing my last two prerequisites this spring and will be applying when the application opens on May 15th! Tell me about your journey and ask questions about mine!

Hey girl, I’ve tried to find this page on FB but can’t seem to find it. I’m at EVC too and would love to join the group. Could you tell me the name or try and submit another link?

Never mind! When I just commented it populated the link for me so o could join. So weird lol

Sorry about that! I’ll try posting a new link just in case

EVC Facebook page in case the other one isn’t working. Title is “ACC EVC Spring 2020 Cohort”

Hi guys .. I'm confused about how many books are required for level 1. How many books are there? I'm trying to see if I can buy used books and save money. Or is it cheaper to buy the whole package?

The Fall 2019 book list is kind of hard to read/decipher. From that list I was able to find some pdfs/ebooks for the first semester through the libgen site and I think I'll buy what I can't find used. I usually read books on my tablet vs getting physical copies. I'm also into saving money where I can lol.

Really wondering when we're getting the phase 2 code for Castle Branch and when CEC and EVC students can register ?

I think a lot of the books have online access codes that will be invaluable for passing our HESI subject tests.
And I feel the same way about phase 2 and us CEC/EVC students not having petitions yet ?

Hi everyone. I still haven’t received my TXBON blue card in the mail yet. How long exactly did it take for y’all to receive your cards?????

Just chiming in late here, but I just got my blue card today! I took it on 9/13 lol..I literally had to call 3 times with them saying they mailed it twice.

I got my petition for CEC!

Just got my petition for cec 11/18. Anyone know off chance the probability of getting clinicals on the weekends? Or will they be the same day as classes but afterwards? I am just trying to figure out how to schedule work since I need to give them some kind of a notice. I could work after classes for a couple hours but I don’t even know about the possibility of getting clinicals that same day. am planning on working 16 hrs a week. And I know we won’t have a Schedule until after orientation? I am also looking at this past fall 2019 schedule at cec but don’t know how dependable that is to go of off. Any insight would be much appreciated.

We really won’t know what our clinical schedule looks until orientation.
join our CEC Facebook group!!

But I would contact Lela directly (our CEC administrator) with any questions. She’s super responsive by email and SUPER NICE!

We asked our skills teachers that question and they said clinicals could be evening, saturday, and/or sunday. It depends on the site, but they try their best not to schedule weekends for us.

Does anyone know if they extended the deadline for phase 2 on castle branch? The orientation page says dec 1 still but CB says aug 1- dec 14 on all the items.

I would definitely go by what is said on the orientation website. The CEC administrator told us December 1 just a few days ago when she sent all of the parking info.

Just took the HESI yesterday and applied for Fall '19 and let me offer a little advice, if you don't mind.

Start getting everything in order as soon as possible. All of your castle branch can be done before the application period even opens. Get everything lined up and also you can take the HESI while you are still taking your last pre-reqs as long as you will be finished with them before the application period ends. Do NOT wait and take the last HESI date, that way you can re-take any sections you don't pass.

Also, something I didn't realize until yesterday, you can apply while you are still finishing your last pre-reqs, as long as they are completed before the deadline ends. Apply as early as you can, because you get petitions for Nursing Skills based on when you apply.

I used the HESI study guide they suggested and it was good for a refresher on Math and Grammar! Also, there is a Pocket Prep HESI A2 app you can download and either upgrade to customize, or just use the free portion, but it has Biology and Chemistry as well, which isn't on ACC's HESI.

Anyway, if you have any questions, ask away!

Do I have to talk to anyone about taking the HESI during my last prerequisite? And about castle branch Should I do that after I do my HESI? Thanks in advance ??
