Austin Community College (ACC) ADN Fall 2022

Nursing Students School Programs

Hey y’all, just starting a thread for all of us who applied to be in the Fall 2022 cohort. I figured that it might be nice for us to have a place to communicate since we all feel like we’re in the dark. Fingers crossed that we all get spots!

What was your ranking score when you applied the first time? Did you get your acceptance letter then?

The first time I had 33.13 and the cut off was 34.04 last time I hope it is the same this time.

And no I did not get accepted last time ? but it is all good. I hope you be able to get in this time

My ranking is 34.33 I am a 2nd applicant. I had high hopes this time around.
but I am glad I took the HESI and reapplied for Spring 2023.
We still have a sliver of hope, we may be one of the lucky ones.

it’s funny, while waiting for Spring 2022 I never got a rejection email or knew what the ranking cut off was.
I only got a ranking score and was left in the dark.

From my nursing skills class groupme, I'm guessing the cutoff is between 36 and 36.92. Someone with 36 did not get in, but with 36.92 did.

Hey guys do yall know the best way to get a higher rank? My rank was 33.17

just trying to increase my chances for next time. I took Nursing skills class Spring 2022 so those points didn’t count and will need to take the HESI for next cycle

You may need to wait for Fall 2023 if you didn’t take the HESI. I think Spring 2023 applications are due tomorrow (the 27th) and the HESI is required for Spring 2023. They listed a bunch of stuff like getting any type of medical license and taking one of the med terms classes will give you extra points for future applications. Check on the website to see the exact med terms class, I think there are a couple and only one counts for extra ranking points.

So in between application cycles, I took BSN pre-reqs including eng Comp 2. I had a B in Eng 1, but got an A in comp 2, and they actually switched out the A for the B-was not expecting that at all! Nursing skills will add points to your score, as will the HESI. I noticed they extended the application deadline to July, so you've got time to take it. Give yourself time to study so you can get the highest scores possible, and I highly recommend the website Nursehub.com. I used it after a classmate recommended it and it is full of practice quizzes and tests for every subject-and explanations after every question that teach you what you need to know. I basically relearned how to do math and relearned all of Anatomy and Physiology with it(it had been a year and a half since I took A&P 2.) She and I both ended up acing the exam, and I would not have been able to without it(I'm not paid for this, I swear LOL)

Also, you can now get points for taking med terminology or working in healthcare-which I know it's kinda late to get started on. Maybe you can find a 5 week Summer med term class?

And don't forget you'll get the points for reapplying-I believe it's 5. So your score will go up no matter what! Good luck!

Thank you sooo much for this information!

Okay so, I have a 34 as a first time applicant and I took the HESI and reapplied just in case but I’m extremely confused. One of the girls in my nursing skills class said that she only had a 31.28 and she apparently got accepted first round. I have a higher score than her and haven’t heard anything else since. I’m really hoping to get in my first round because I’ve worked so hard to have a 4.0. Also im kindof bummed because I took nursing skills and I got a 97 but it won’t even count towards my ranking because I just finished it feeling bummed honestly.

@Sbf if she did it through Capital Idea she will get in before you with lower points. They work with ACC and ACC leaves Serrano number of seats for them

I’m 100% in your same boat (1st time applicant with a 34 and 1105 isn’t part of the count) and I’m feeling really disheartened right now. You’re not alone.
