Aurora University Applicants 2014

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hey, I'm officially waiting on the acceptance to the nursing school of AU. I got my TEAS V score today and its a 72. Not too happy with it, but honestly I only studied the science portion and for a week. So I guess it's not too shabby. I have a GPA of 3.5.

Hopefully I've caught the eyes of other AU applicants out here. Feel free to share your scores and hopefully we get in!

Thanks for letting us know! Thats not bad at all ! March cant come soon enough. ..

Hello I got a 62% on the Teas :( , so I fall under, so I'm really hoping your right about them opening a Spring term! I wonder if that would mean, they'll let you take the TEAS exam again!? Anyhow, I thought in order to enter the program you have to have 70.6%??? We are talking about Aurora Univeristy, in Aurora , IL right...? Well good luck guys! and I am sure you will get in! Your GPA's are great, have faith! ;)

The admission rep was telling me but she wasn't sure, and if they do open a spring term, we do have to retake the test. Probably we will do better next time. We are still young and have plenty of time...:) Did someone went to the nursing program open house?...I went and they said they were looking for a 64% percentile rank or above and a 2.75 gpa. They also mentioned they only accepted 90 students last year out of 200. So...I don't really know whats going on. If anyone gets in contact with any nursing advisor let us know!!!

Hey guys! I'm a Senior nursing student currently at AU, so I may be able to add some input here! I was accepted with a TEAS score of 81% and a 3.0 GPA. I've heard of people getting accepted with significantly lower TEAS scores, but I'm not sure of their GPA.. Back in Fall of 2012 I want to say around 100 (possibly less) of us were accepted. Last year, I heard closer to around 120-130 were accepted, so they've certainly been expanding their acceptance load. An unfortunate part of this, I hear the class sizes are enormous! I prefer the much smaller class sizes.

As far as a Spring term goes, I haven't heard anything about it, but it would certainly be beneficial!

If you guys have any questions regarding the program based on my own experience, feel free to ask!

Hi all! My GPA is a 3.71, and I received a score of 86 on the TEAS V. I am transferring in from College of DuPage. I also applied to UIC and NIU. I hope we all get in! Best of luck to everyone!

Hello! I have heard wonderful things about the nursing program at Aurora. I am certainly considering going there -however, I currently work part-time overnights in a hospital. Do you think working and being in the nursing program is advisable (or possible), especially once clinicals begin? Any feedback would be much appreciated :).

Hi PaulDee! First and foremost, best of luck with your acceptance!

In regards to working while in the program, it is absolutely possible, but maybe not for everyone. I, personally, have decided to focus on my schooling and am only picking up occasional shifts at my previous non healthcare-related job. However, I know many, many people in the program who are managing the coursework with a part-time healthcare job. It really all depends on how well you are at managing your time wisely. Classes are difficult, that's no surprise! But the way everyone learns the material is different. I tend to have to read and re-read material in order to understand it and retain it so that I'm confident when applying it during clinical. Of course, this is a lot more time consuming, so I certainly appreciate the time I have available while not working. Then again, I'm always stressing about not having enough experience when it comes to thinking about applying for jobs after graduation.

Long story short, working during the program is 100% feasible and has some awesome benefits when it comes to job hunting and additional experience you can bring to class or clinical. It just may not be suitable for everyone.

Thanks for sharing! That is very encouraging. I plan to work at the hospital while in nursing school, due to tuition reimbursement. I will probably have to cut down my hours, however, since I am working about 30 hrs/wk. Do you know if AUSON has a wait list? Thanks again!

:) thanks for sharing....AUSON id the only school that i apply, so crossing my fingers i get in this year

Sounds like a good plan!

& Honestly, I'm not quite sure if AUSON has a wait list.. I've heard rumors that they do, but nothing certain. Regardless, the school sets a quota and, of course, anyone who takes the time and effort to get in typically won't back out.. but things do happen! :p

Thank you so much for sharing! Congrats on your last semester of nursing school! My sister also went to AU for nursing, and she is doing amazing, to say the least. Hopefully we all will get into this program or any other ones we have applied to...
