I don't know if I can be a nurse.
Thanks for sharing Clane. It was this post that I needed to read today to know that I'm going to get through no matter what obstacles come my way. I'm in my first semester of nursing school & it's been rough, but I'm not giving up!! I've wanted this for Sooo Long! & doing clinicals at my local nursing home, just reconfirmed to me why I belong in this field! I loved it! Thank You.

How ready are you for nursing school?
I'm not ready..... physically I'm a thin person, but with no upper strength so I've started taking strength training classes Friday Saturday and Sunday to help with that. I'm also an organized chaos kind of person...how do I explain this? My desk through community college was chaos, but organized chaos, I knew where a certain assignment was in my pile and only I knew where to find it, and since I've been accepted in to nursing school for this fall(BSN) my husband has called me out on it. My husband is the one that has made me aware of my chaos and said I'm not going to get very far in nursing school if I don't learn now how to be organized, he's right! SO I've cleaned my desk, gotten rid of a lot of junk and I'm managing and continuing to learn how to keep things organized. My husband has also called me out on time management. He tells me I don't know how to manage my time and states that's why I'm always running around the last minute-again guilty! I've managed to be a very good student through community college with chaos and time, but I know I need to change my habits for nursing school. So! it's all one step at a time that I do hope to change so that I can be successful. As far as mentally-No I have no idea what to expect in nursing school, I mean everyone I've talked to tells me it's HARD, well of course it's hard, but again I don't know what to expect!? emotionally and spiritually-I pray to the gods above to not leave my side and continue to give me the faith and courage for each day and to help me be strong for myself and for others in need of my care :) That's All! -scared, excited soon to be nursing student fall 2014.

Failure is an Option: A New Grad Story
I am a soon to be nursing student this fall, and I'm terrified of not being good enough, not getting it, and overall failing at what I've been working towards for soooo long, but your story grounded me and showed me that yes WE ARE HUMAN, WE ARE NOT PERFECT, and I will make a mistake in nursing school and after nursing school.....Your strength give me faith that no matter what get back on the horse and try again! Thank you for sharing such a difficult but beautiful outcome of a moment of yours.

Second thoughts/cold feet
I think if you don't know then that's Okay. I was a drop out (@15 yes old) I began working right away & at age 20 I had an epiphany while sitting at work as a receptionist I thought "omg-am I gonna sit here at the front desk foreverrrr??" Got my butt back to school & knew I wanted a career that made a difference in other peoples lives so I thought social worker, then changed my mind & thought dental hygienist, but knowing that I'm a person that needs variety & change all the time I finally chose Nursing! It took me a while to figure out but here I am - eager to start my bsn! There are moments I still have doubt because I get scared that I might not make it in nursing school(I also hear how intense it is) but we have to try before giving up :) take a break & continue to search for your calling!:)

Cold Feet
I'm so glad I found this! I finished & graduated from my community college with my associates degree. I applied to my local university for the BSN program & have been put on the wait list as #20 , my husband tells me its a great chance & to stay hopeful & now that I'm here I started thinking & getting nervous "maybe I was put on waiting list for a reason -I'm not ready?" All these silly thought s of doubt & yes cold feet started to the point I told my husband that maybe j should change majors? Thankfully my husband has seen me passionate about wanting to b a nurse for the past 4 years & gave me a Good Talking! Lol he reminded me of all my late nights, classes, tears , & sweat to get to where I am now. I remembered why I chose this career & the hunger I have to get my feet in to nursing! I feel Ready now & if I don't get in this year I'll apply again next year! All I can say is don't forget that moment you chose this life changing career, don't lose sight of your dreams. We can do this!

Statistics
Don't throw in the towel, we've come tooo far to throw in the towel because of one class....I'm taking statistics for the second time, because I got a D (67%) my first time. I'm again struggeling but not as much as the first time, yet still it's a very hard class. Anyhow don't give up and keep trying, Hey if I have to take a third time I will, ....it is a rough class though..

Aurora University Applicants 2014
Hello I got a 62% on the Teas , so I fall under, so I'm really hoping your right about them opening a Spring term! I wonder if that would mean, they'll let you take the TEAS exam again!? Anyhow, I thought in order to enter the program you have to have 70.6%??? We are talking about Aurora Univeristy, in Aurora , IL right...? Well good luck guys! and I am sure you will get in! Your GPA's are great, have faith!

Enter your TEAS V Scores here!!
First Try: Year 2012 Program Type: BSN Adjusted Individual Total Score: 56.7% ATI Academic Preparedness Level: Basic Mean - National: 64.3% Mean - Program: 70.6% Percentile Rank - National: 30 Percentile Rank - Program: 14 Reading: 69% Math: 63.3% Science: 45.8% English and Language: 50.0% Second Try: Year 2014 Program Type: BSN Adjusted Individual Total Score: 62% ATI Academic Preparedness Level: Proficient Mean - National: 64.3% Mean - Program: 70.6 Percentile Rank - National: 43 Percentile Rank - Program: 24 Reading: 69% Math: 56.7% Science: 60.4% English and Language:63.3% Although My test scores are low, I like to always look at the bright side...the face that I took this test a second time and scored higher lets me know that every year I'm learning and preparing myself for the nurse I one day will become. I will continue to Try!! I will not let this get me down. Plus check this out! The fact that my test said PROFICIENT MADE ME HAPPY! HAHAA Heyy, one small step at a time right?! Proficient (Pro) - Proficient scores generally indicate a moderate level of overall academic preparedness necessary to support learning of nursing-related content. Students at this level may require additional preparation for some objectives assessed on TEAS (see Topics to Review of this score report). Basic (Bas) - Basic scores generally indicate a low level of overall academic preparedness necessary to support learning of nursing related content. Students at this level are likely to require additional preparation for many objectives assessed on TEAS (see Topics to Review on this score report).

Feeling unmotivated..
I took the teas for the second time yesterday, I hear ya & understand ....I sometimes begin doubting myself especially when my friends have passed & tell me they only studied for a few days ...O_O ...ughh it sucks but coming here & reading people s encouraging words & guidance truly motivates me again to continue trying! We can fail 100 times but as long as we get up again & Try that's what counts! Best of luck to you! Continue to study the book & seek out other resources!
