Published

Hey there! I know it is really early, but I wanted to get a head start and connect with others who are also applying! We can use this forum to answer each others questions and just provide words of encouragement! ?

Best of luck to everyone!

For anyone who is currently in the MSN/CNL program.. Are you working? Is it possible to work part time and still be successful in the program? Thanks!

Some people work, but you definitely need to figure out what works for you. I only have experience from the first semester (which contained 1 lab and 1 clinical) and was able to work on Sundays and had plenty of time to socialize etc and ended the semester with all As except for one class. Some people didn't feel comfortable doing so. Second semester, a lot of students are PCIs (Patient Care Interns) and will also be working.

So in short: a few hours a week--totally manageable, especially if your employer is flexible. Full time job--absolutely not. Just know if at any point it becomes too much, you should put school first.

Hello! For anyone who is currently in the program would you mind sharing information about the dress code requirements? Does the program require you order a specific style of scrubs/shoes? I know we will be required to wear a specific color. I am trying to get an idea of how much to set aside for uniforms. I have a few friends that offered to give me some of their scrubs, but I wasnt sure if I would even be able to wear them for school. Thank you so much for anything you can share!

The program recommends Cherokee scrubs in pewter, with two sets to start. Technically you can get another brand if the color matches. You can choose the style. The scrub top will be embroidered which can be done at a place here in town (International Uniform for Augusta people).

Brand of shoe doesn't matter, just needs to be a neutral color (black, white, etc.), waterproof (don't want to get bodily fluids on them at clinical and not be able to wipe it off...), slip resistant, and has to have the front and back of your foot covered.

They also make you get a lab coat (they run big) which will also need to be embroidered (at the local bookstore). I don't know anyone who wears it after pinning, so see if someone wants to sell/give you theirs I'd take them up on it.

If you get cold easily, I recommend getting a few light-weight long sleeve shirts that you can wear under your scrubs (must also be neutral color).

Hope this helps.

Hey guys happy Xmas I’m excited! For those who applied during the early cycle, is your status still at “ready for review” or “under review”?

Merry Christmas! Mine is still “Ready for Review.” According to previous posts it doesn’t change to “Under Review.” We will receive an email that says it’s under review and then it will change to “Decision Made - Notification sent” a few weeks later.

Thanks four your swift response, I had no idea;  guess we are both in this waiting game!

Yes! My patience is declining, but it should be some time in the next 3 weeks. I hope we get our email and letter soon!

My last prerequisites start in a week and I was hoping to know by then so I didn’t have to take classes for other programs if I didn’t need to.

Exactly, there’s a lot of us waiting! I was hoping to get a decision early too for similar reasons. I’m not even sure if we’ll hear back by the Jan 15th deadline.  Because I think once it goes “under review” it takes yet another 4 weeks for the decision to be made. Last years applicants didn’t hear back till mid February. Did y’all notice they took off the deadline and any/all information regarding the early cycle applicants? Is it so that they not liable for the January 15th deadline due to so many applicants? I’m not sure what to do and I don’t wanna bombard the admission office or the directors of the program. We just want to know what’s going on here LOL

I was thinking that was a possibility and I did notice that. I thought maybe they took it down since the deadline passed and there is no longer a reason to have it posted. I only assume it would be sooner because at the CNL info session on Dec. 16th, we were told that they were trying to have all early applicant decisions out by Christmas. That did not happen, but if she was confident enough to suggest it could be done by Christmas, I would hope it is at least done by January 15th (or sooner). I will try not to think about it too much. It'll happen when it happens. haha

Nori Brown has just confirmed to me that all of the early decision applicants will receive a letter of decision by January 15th and they are processing letters of decision asap.

Fingers crossed!

Smh I sure hope so..hopefully it will..

My application just changed to "Decision Made" AND the "Background Consent Form" in required documents showed up.... I GOT SO EXCITED OMG OMG. Only accepted students got that right? Or am I wrong?
