Augusta University BSN Fall 2018 Cohort

Published

Hi, guys! I have applied to Augusta University's BSN program-Athens Campus for the Fall of 2018 and wanted to start a thread to compare stats and experiences with the application process. Comment below if you are planning on applying or already have applied! I mainly am just so eager to find out if I got in or not. Fingers crossed!

I only need to take communications, but I'll take it in the summer. Now I can't wait to receive the letter. The wait is crazy lol

Dang, I was hoping to see something that would make it so I could stop checking every hour. í ½í¸‚ hopefully it's congrats beckyyy! Fingers crossed I'll see mine change soon. We applied around the same time and similar stats so now I'm even more anxious. I don't have the option of main campus... I can only go if I get Athens,so I'm even more nervous.

Ayaya, did your campus change on the applicant status page? I know others were saying their's did.

Anyone tried calling them today?

No, it hasn't changed. Still says Athens Campus. I'll be devastated if it changes :(

For people talking about how they decide who to admit for Athens or Augusta- I went to tour the Athens campus a month ago and they said that they really pay attention to where people are coming from and weigh that as well when it comes to deciding which campus to admit people to. They said that people that currently attend UGA and are from the Athens area and surrounding are usually more likely to end up at the Athens campus. Also they said that the admission GPA is basically the same for both campuses and that the rumor that the "more qualified" people are admitted to the Athens campus is false. Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear!

I heard the same thing! I think what people get confused about is the fact that they accept less at the Athens campus, so of course there will be a higher percentage of students with higher GPA's than the Augusta campus (therefore making it more competitive). However, they hold both campuses to the same standard. Obviously there are more people that ultimately get deferred from Athens to Augusta than the other way around simply because of the small acceptance rate.

Anyone know how much the cost is for Augusta? Dorm & tuition? I gotta choose between Mercer, which is by Home or Augusta. Its nerve wrecking

Totally agree with y'all. Haven't toured the Athens campus but my coworkers who went there said it's literally just one small building as opposed to the huge medical campus they have in Augusta for all the nursing+dental+med school students so of course it makes sense that the Athens campus admits much fewer people because their facilities are much smaller! I know we're all going to get a great education and learn the proper skills regardless of which campus we all end up at!! Fingers crossed I get into the Athens campus though cause ya girl is not trying to move everything 3 hours away haha

My Campus didn't get changed, but you guys applied way earlier than I did so I don't think they've even taken a glance at mine. I'm kind of nervous it might get switched over since all of the earlier applicants will be looked at :((

Also when I applied I had just started at ChoA, but now I'm working at Grady too & I wish I had that on there lol...

I also applied to Mercer/GSU, but at the time I hadn't even started ChoA! So those 2 applications are kind of empty. I just have such an average GPA / Sci+Math / TEAS that I need that boost on my application.

Hope everything works out guys!

Beckyyy did you get your acceptance letter already?! I believe Mercer is around ~$20,000/year (or at least that's what one of the practicum students told me when I was at work last week). The upside of Mercer is that they have really good clinical sites. Not that Augusta doesn't because I'm sure they have fabulous ones, too, but I know the Mercer students do rounds at CHOA (we get them alllll the time on my floor), Emory, Northside and a few others which are all really great hospitals!!

No I haven't but I'm assuming I got in...hopefully lol. I did get into Mercer tho. I'm scared to choose. Mercer is expensive and they don't have financial aid. But I get financial aid at Augusta so it's a good perk
