Augusta U- MSN/CNL- Fall 2018 Entry

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I don't see a group yet started for admission to the Fall 2018's Augusta U MSN/CNL program. I have read through the forum of the Fall 2017 group and it seems to have been very informative!

I am excited once this group starts getting some members, so we can discuss the process (and adventure?!) of applying and finishing pre-reqs!

I am a second career applicant who works full time as an office assistant to two MDs and 1 BSN now. I have previously been a CNA and worked as a PCT in a small rural hospital on the med/surg floor, but then went on to get a BA in English from UGA. After having been an assistant for 4 years and out of school for quite a few more, I am excited about starting this RN program and still question why I didn't do this from the beginning :-) Oh well, I feel I have a lot of real world experience now and I am a much better learner then before! I have four pre-reqs left. A&P 1 and 2, Microbiology, and Human Development. I am planning on trying to CLEP the Human Development course this fall. Currently in the waiting process for acceptance into the Perimeter Campus of Georgia State University to start the other courses.

Looking forward to talking with all of you!

I got accepted to the athens campus too!

I got accepted to the athens campus. I had an interview on October 20th and then was invited for a second interview on November 10th. Received my acceptance letter November 29th.

@sec10 they made you do two interviews??

Yes. Both at the Athens campus. The first one was over Skype with two people at Augusta and the second one was in person with a professor and co-director of the program in Athens.

Hi! I received an interview for the Augusta campus. What should I expect and does anyone have any tips?

Thanks!

Hey vingram21! I posted about this awhile back, but I'll post it again.

The interview is very straightforward and not stressful at all! When you arrive at AU, park in the visitor spots. If those are taken (they probably will be) then park in the cancer center parking deck across from the main health building. When you meet up with Emily at her office, you will fill out some short paperwork asking about your pre-reqs and choice of campus. Afterwards you will meet with 2 members of the committee in the boardroom and have the formal interview. They ask alot of personal questions such as what your interests are, why you want to go into nursing, where you're from etc... The interview isn't very long, about 10-15 minutes. You should receive a decision during the end of the first week of the next month.

For preparation, I would HIGHLY suggest skimming the white pages and picking certain parts that you can relate to yourself and make connections to, as well as anything you find particularly interesting. Also try and watch a few videos on youtube about the CNL role and make sure you know what a CNL is and the role that they provide in a healthcare setting! Connect your past experiences (work/healthcare/school) in a way that exemplifies your ability to be a leader, and to be successful in the nursing program. Also, make sure you understand and are reasonably well versed on recent problems in healthcare as a whole, and why they're important.

In my opinion, the interview seems to just be a way for AU to confirm that you'll be a good fit for the program, so consider it an honor that they want to interview you! (Not everybody gets an interview) Lastly, present yourself well, arrive on time, be yourself, and thank them for the opportunity! Good luck!

Do we also have to send a copy of our transcripts to admissions?

Do we also have to send a copy of our transcripts to admissions?

To my knowledge, everything is to be sent to nursingcas only.

That's what I presumed! Thank you!

Hey guys, I have quick question. Every time I check the webpage for the Augusta University application check, it just says my application is incomplete. It says it is missing GRE scores, but it shows that I took the MAT, as well as all other documents that are needed? I was wondering if anyone else is encountering this as well?

Hey @johndoecousin, did you ever solve the problem or figure it out? Because I have the same problem and I called the admission office and they told me everything is fine
