Augusta U- MSN/CNL- Fall 2018 Entry

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I don't see a group yet started for admission to the Fall 2018's Augusta U MSN/CNL program. I have read through the forum of the Fall 2017 group and it seems to have been very informative!

I am excited once this group starts getting some members, so we can discuss the process (and adventure?!) of applying and finishing pre-reqs!

I am a second career applicant who works full time as an office assistant to two MDs and 1 BSN now. I have previously been a CNA and worked as a PCT in a small rural hospital on the med/surg floor, but then went on to get a BA in English from UGA. After having been an assistant for 4 years and out of school for quite a few more, I am excited about starting this RN program and still question why I didn't do this from the beginning :-) Oh well, I feel I have a lot of real world experience now and I am a much better learner then before! I have four pre-reqs left. A&P 1 and 2, Microbiology, and Human Development. I am planning on trying to CLEP the Human Development course this fall. Currently in the waiting process for acceptance into the Perimeter Campus of Georgia State University to start the other courses.

Looking forward to talking with all of you!

Has there been any new invites for the interview? I applied earlier December so I'm hoping to hear back for the Feb interviews soon. Also congrats on all the new acceptances :)

I got my acceptance letter to the Athens campus! can't wait to start in the Fall and meet everyone!

hey everyone! so i've submitted my nursingcas, and my supplemental application but have yet to hear anything back. Should I call tomorrow and make sure everything was completed? granted I did not turn everything in until this past week due to me contemplating taking a year off, but just did not know what to expect! congrats on everyone's acceptances!

I also only got a letter in the mail!

Hi! I got accepted back in December, and as I am super excited I am also very nervous. What would you say is the most challenging part and also what is your favorite part of the program?! Thanks in advance (:

Hi there-I am a last minute applicant; I'm just following up to see if anyone has heard anything about February interviews yet.

Thanks!

Gatravel....I would just wait.

Gatravelnurse, I believe they would email you if you were missing something. But it can't hurt to call or email to check on things (just once).

Hi nursetobe10! I'm not sure if this question was directed to me but i'll answer anyway if thats ok lol :) the most challenging part of this program is TIME MANAGEMENT. Before I came here I already had a master's degree so I knew what it was like to go to grad school. I'd also heard everyone tell me before that nursing school is all about time management but i honestly didn't understand the seriousness of what they were saying. This semester, our second semester, we have a test every single week in a different class for three weeks, then we get one week off, then the cycle repeats itself. We have sim lab once a week which requires pre-sim preparation and paperwork. We have med-surg clinical once a week which requires pre-clinical and post-clinical paperwork that can be very time consuming. We have psych clinical once a week. And we have classes all day on Thursday and they DO take attendance. lol So you really have to manage your time well. Also, have some money saved up because things can get really expensive. During orientation, the first day of class, i spent probably $400-500 just on software alone.

My favorite part of the program is the fact that i have support. Most, if not all, of the professors are very nice and understanding. They're willing to help you in any way they can, as time permits. I also have some awesome classmates. There are over 100 of us I believe here in Augusta so everyone kinda forms their own little groups that they connect with and rely on. So its always nice to know you aren't alone.

Hope this helps!! You got this!!!

This message is for Nola Ofori (it wouldn't let me private message you back!) and anyone else wondering about Patho..

It's tough, I'm not gonna lie. But the good thing about Patho, for me anyway, is that you're studying concepts so once you understand the basics you can build on that and at least make an educated guess on the questions or topics you may not fully understand. The best advice I can give is to stay ahead as best as you can. I didn't really read the book because its huge and provides a lot of information we didnt absolutely HAVE to know. I focused on the topics they cover in lecture. We get focus notes before each exam and someone (a student) usually makes a powerpoint that everyone uses to study. There are study sessions online usually held by a senior student before each exam. She also gave extra credit which, if we did all of it, gave us three extra percentage points at the end of the class. Patho was my biggest concern as well but I made an A so its possible!

Thank you for the information @ nightshifter25

Hi Vingram21 and JAthens,

Thanks for the Applicant Status Check Login information. It has made me nervous about getting excited. When you checked it before receiving your letter did it say Augusta University Email Address: "Not Applicable"? On mine, I have a Student ID but the Email Address says "Not Applicable" which makes me think maybe they give a student ID to every applicant. Also, it does say documents not received "Background consent form" but it also says "IF admitted, documents required..."

Any idea on how I should interpret this?

Sitting nervous...
