I received my eligibility letter from CA board of nursing 4 days ago, haven't registered yet in personvue. Anyway, I plan to take it (NCLEX-RN) on August!! And I'm so excited!! To all August NCLEX takers, let's share our thoughts, feelings, and knowledge, as well as review strategies towards passing nclex! I believe having that kind of relationship with others will help us pass the exam!!

GOD BLESS TO ALL OF US!! ^_^

:smackingf My test is August 11 th and every time I try to read the phone rings, I fall asleep, I get nauseated, I am a mess. The only sanity I get is knowing it will be over August 13th when I get the results. I keep reading a thinking, Oh My Gosh, I can't believe I forgot all about that! I don't know if studying helps or hurts, help me to remember or hurts to know how much I forgot? Keep me in your prayers. I'm praying for all of ya and wishing everyone good luck.:D

Hi Melinurse,

I am in the same boat as you as I am testing In 2 weeks. I am very nervous and having serious mood swings. One day I feel condident and feel like going on to pearson vue to look for a closer apoitnment and testing the next day and then a couple hours later I am in a state of depression feeling like I know nothing. I know my major weakness right now are meds and really have not found a way to tackle them. One thing I would like to suggest to you is the prio, delegating and assignment book that people on here have been talking about. Its a really good source. Get it if you can and read front to back. Its a pretty easy read and the questions are good practice.

hello ilovenursing08...where can u buy prio, delegating book? can i find it in barnes and noble? thanks a lot....goodluck to all of us!

If the NCLEX was only priority, delegation I would feel 100% confident. Those are my strengths. I am worried about nursing math. I can do it, I just forget it really quick. I actually think I have a math disability. At work I always double check my calcs with pharmacy and sometimes even another nurse, but on NCLEX I won't have my backup. Otherwise, I am feeling ok ( at least for now, I'll be a mess in an hour ).

Do you have a dosage calculation book from nursing school?

They do have them at some b&b stores but not all. You can go online to their website, search for the book and see if they have it in store thats close to you. As Melinurse said if this area is not your weakness then it proably won't be as helpful to you as it has been to me..

Yes, I still have my pharm books but I have found a better explaination from looking at some web sites recommended by Daytonite and VickyRN. I don't know where those 2 come up with all their resources. But, I am very grateful. :yeah: There is a sticky on doseage calculations in the nursing assisstance discussion forum and a nursing math sticky in the general nursing forum. Both have been a life saver. My problem is that I get it, for a little while and then forget it and have to relearn it again. So I'm thinking of dedicating the 2 days before NCLEX to nothing but math.

That sounds like a good idea. What did you use to practice questions.. kaplan, nursing ext saunders?

I used Drexel DVDs and Random Facts Thread. I try once in a while to read through Lippincott, but spend maybe 30 minutes before I'm drifting. I've been an LPN for a while and last time I practiced questions like crazy and was sooooo discouraged because I never could get above 40-50 %. So when I finished the boards I knew I had failed and told my boss I failed without looking at my results. I think it was 2 weeks later I got an official letter and my license, I had passed!!!! So this time I am trying not to do any questions ( but did some anyway to torture myself ). I got 56% on that comprehensive exam and again was discouraged. So I decided that my confidence was ok before and has been since and maybe that is the magic formula for me.:jester: I think I just can't concentrate here at home, but, when push comes to shove I can do it. Hope this plan does not backfire!
