Attention lpn's of ga-in need of help

Im a LPN with 9mths of work exp, frm cleveland,OH and currently in Norcross GA. Whats the demand for lpn's in the state of GA and the pay rate. Maybe it's just me but it seems kinda slow for lpn's in GA. Any help is greatly appriciated.

I'm an RN but can answer this to some degree...most hospitals no longer higher LPN's - lots of doctors offices do..some home healths and some hospices. The best thing to do is try monster.com, careerbuilder.com, indeed.com, simplyhired.com and type in LPN to get a feel for the area. The Sunday papers here aren't the best at putting jobs out..you can check lots of hospitals webs sites and if not sure then contact HR for clarification. LTC also hirer LPNS -

Check out dialysis too. There is Davita, Fresenius, and a few smaller companies. They are very happy to get LPN's.

I'm a LPN from Michigan and have been here for a couple of months and have had the HARDEST time finding a job. I've probably put in a least 20+ applications mostly online at the hospitals(Northside, Emory, North Fulton, Grady, Kaiser Permanente). I've even tried VNA, Amedisys and some of the assisted living facilities, no luck. All of the above facilities had an advertisement on their website. I don't know if you need to know someone to get in a hospital or what. I have not tried LTC facilities. I believe I may have some good luck this week at a homecare agency. BTW I'm not a new nurse 11yrs experience, 5+ for a hospital. I wish you all the best.

The hospitals here hire very few if any LPN's. You will need to look in LTC, dialysis, doctor's office or home health to find a job here. Check craigslist. I have always gotten several call backs from craigslist.

:banghead: I know it can feel like ramming your head against a wall as an LPN but I've been in Georgia for about 5 years from the Yankee area and , the hardest part of the move i found was the decrease in pay. I took a 10 dollar pay cut been in nursing for 25 years, LPN 20 years , my experience was always Hospital, Homecare and Doctors office. I've found the hospitals you usually have to know somebody --- THEY DO UTILIZE LPN's --- but they have given them a different title the new name varies from one hospital System to another but we are there. Unless you have very varied and very good experience I would say start with the agencies and a great temp position can turn into a wonderful permanent position. Agencies: Hospitals-(sorry forgot the name but right down the street from varsity), Homecare-Bayada,Pediatria, PSA and Nursing Home-Favorite Nurses. Good Luck

:nurse: Loved IT!! I feel it gives so many people the opportunity to experience the Hard Work, Responsibility and Critical Thinking Required for nursing prior to committing yourself to multiple years of nursing school to acquire your RN and then find Nursing is not the career choice that will bring you Happiness! We started a class of 160, we graduated a class of 90 and 5 years after graduation there were about 50 still in nursing in addition to the 20 that had went right on to get their RN. But call where you think you'd like to work and see if you can volunteer.

I have been trying to figure out if I wanted to do the LPN route first then get my RN or do RN first. I have a bachelors and I am working full-time(teaching). However, I still need to supplement our income while pursuing my dream.
