Effective on April 26, 2010 California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) will no longer accept applications that do not contain a U.S. Social Security Number. The Nursing Practice Act provides for a unified examination and licensing application. Once an applicant passes the examination, a license is automatically issued. Under these circumstances the BRN cannot accept applications for the examination and licensure without a U.S. social security number.
For those applicants who have failed the exam and want to re-apply; CABON will not accept re-application without U.S Social Security Number.
If your application was sent prior to April 26, 2010 or if you are already eligible, THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO YOU.
im sorry to tell but i think you may be able to take the nclex test but they will not isssue a license since you do not have a SSN. You should wait til you get a result from cali before you apply to another state. Good luck to you.
thanks! but when i called the CA BON, they told me to apply to another state since i cannot provide SSN for reapplication. how can I apply for the CES for other states?
Each state has guidelines for the CES report that they need and multiple options of different organizations which they will accept a Credential Evaluation from.
Some of the information may be available on the website, some of it may require calling the BON.
Alternately there are specialized centers which can help you if you run into a dead end.

Just look on the CGFNS website where all instructions are regarding CES. You will need to indicate which state you are wanting it sent to so you will need to check out the state requirements
Hi, i already got my eligibility just last january. So should i just take the exam and if i pass, have it endorsed to another state? Or should i just disregard my application in California and try to apply in Vermont or New Mexico instead? Which one would be better?
hi im kinda lost, I already have a visa but i still have to apply for a SSN. Is it okay if i go to CA as a tourist and apply for SSN? and after that im already eligible to apply?
