Attempting to squeeze past the applicant tracking system

As the title suggests I am trying to get past the applicant tracing system that most hospitals seem to be using today. However, I have a few questions and could use some feedback. Do you think it is acceptable to put clinical completed in school under the heading of professional experience (mine covers work and volunteer experience)? Also I've been a primary caregiver for mymom while I was studying to pass NCLEX. Should I put something there to fill that year gap that I was caring for my mother, and studying for NCLEX? OR Should I just explain myself in the cover letter? Thanks for any help guys!

Where I work they frown on that. HR says it looks deceptive. Our software has a section for volunteer work though.

Hospitals have those software programs in place for a reason, and they will not be happy about people making an effort to "squeeze past" them. I would not list any school clinicals on a resume' unless they are special, unusual students experiences (everyone knows what kind of general clinical experiences new grads have had) and you make it extremely clear that you are talking about student clinical experiences. I would certainly not list them under "professional experience," because they are not professional experience. You run the risk of getting disqualified from consideration if you are seen as being dishonest or deceptive on your resume'. I would certainly talk about any additional experiences (like caring for your mother) in your cover letter.
