ATI. VS UWORLD for PN

Published

I wanted to know if any has used the new UWORLD pn ? I been using both ATI and UWORLD and what I am finding is my scores are so low with the UWORLD that it is making so hard to use the review. Yet everyone is saying it's the best because 95% of all their questions are above passing which mean if you can get them right and understand them then you will be fine. I used ATI in school so I was trained in school how to use it . Has anybody else had this problem ... What did you use to prepare for the pn test and pass?

I started using UWORLD PN a while back but only used for a few days because I asked for an exchange for the UWORLD RN due to the UWORLD low amount of questions in qbank. UWORLD did say they will be adding more questions for UWORLD PN in the future.

I guess I was asking because I was thinking I don't care for UWORLD like I thought I was going to. When I tried the free UWORLD RN back in the fall when they had the free 7 week it was nice but this pn one is very different to follow . I hate that because everyone said it's like the best thing moving , then when for me it's hard . With my ATI which is free from school I understand it ... I find that I am looking up most of the UWORLD stuff .

Yes I can see your point. NCLEX exam tests on nursing knowledge, comprehension, application, and analysis. UWORLD is focused on application and analysis level ,but a person needs to have knowledge and comprehension. UWORLD is great for someone that understand fundamentals first , then UWORLD can be a great tool. i had to realize in my journey that i don't know the basics and fundamentals (nursing process, decision making, problem solving, prioritize, etc) so i will always have trouble with uworld until i changed my study habits going back to the basics. I cam from a school with 68% passing rate and barely passed. So i have to go back to the first few chapters of fundamentals (MALSOW ) and break it down. For example, physical assessment breaks down acute vs chronic , nursing process helps with prioritize, cardiac vs non-cardiac diseases, ischemic vs non-ischemic diseases, what is the highest priority? and why? Again, im no expert. lol. Its based from realizing i tried to cheat my way through learning and their are no shortcuts.

I wish you the best. Hang in there. I had to rewrite my posts sorry. Do you think UWORLD is helping with ATI? :)

Yeah thanks for your input on that. But for me ATI give me more of how it is set up ..like a story.. where UWORLD is cut throat..I get from 30% to 55% on UWORLD and it's the new review so I thought I might be ready . Then when I go to ATI ..my scores are better plus I understand. I can use ATI..2008,2011,2016 from my school so that is over 6 different test. It's funny because their topics were the same .but set up different. Then somone told me the ATI was all near passing questions that is why you can score so high..I am not sure what I want to do to prepare. I want to do questions but I sure don't want to waste time on near passing when I need above passing level to pass

Yes, true. it really goes back again to how you were as a nursing student before doing the questions--not GPA wise...critically thinking wise. I've read some people on here say ATI is just like NCLEX and some say its super hard or super easy. I read Saunders is just like nclex and some say its super easy same for NCSBN questions and the list goes on. Any material is no better than the other but you really want to know what type of nclex questions are asked and what qbank or material can deliver the results you know? It really depends I guess. I never tried ATI but it seems like you are making some progress in your studies. Keep at it and everyone is different--anxiety wise, knowledge wise, test wise, how we comprehend the material, etc. you will know with from your weekly progress what is beneficial to you know? If anything you have a GREAT advantage because you have tested before so you use that to soar on this exam :) :)

Thank you so much for your input on the subject. I just hate that there is so many reviews that take your money. I will keep try to make the best out of this test. I can't understand why this was been so hard for me. But I do have a better understanding on how to answers the questions now.

Thanks again

You are welcome. what seems to be the biggest challenge content like med surg, fundamentals or priority or how do you learn best? or how to read the questions? I am all for helping one another and hey this may help me too because I like to research :)

Well thank you but I have a big problem breaking the question down that is my weakness for sure. Been going through UWORLD questions very slow it's been helping a lot . So now I just got to break each question down it takes a long time but I been getting right ...lol

hi, thats good to hear you are doing good. :)

Here are some books to help with how to break down the questions that I looked into that might help. not saying all three but if you are answering with progress you may not need them. :) maybe read one of these first then do uworld. not to add more books for you. Wish you all the best :)

I'll be 44 years old next month, I just graduated an LVN program in Dec. I used to live a horrid lifestyle 10 years ago and for some years prior to that. I've had 3 misdemeanor convictions that I've gotten expunged and I am currently using U-World as my review. My life is completely different today than my last conviction 10 years ago. I'm still waiting on my ATT. some of my classmates have gotten theirs, but I spent a lot of time writing letters to the board, so mine should come in the next month. My point for writing this is to tell people that i have a lot working against me, but i'm not discouraged because this is a dream that i will chase until the board tells me i don't have another opportunity to chase this. i'm going to make this happen!!! thank you God for this opportunity!
