ATI Final for Med Surge I & II

Well seeing how they just changed the test plan and elevated the pass rate for both versions of the NCLEX starting April 2013, I'm not just going to fully rely on ATI, partially because their practice tests and books are based off of the 2010 test plan. I'm sure a good bit of the info for the NCLEX is still relevant, as there were no major changes to the test plan. I'll utilize various resources, which is supposed to increase your chances of being able to answered a varied type of questions.

As I stated earlier, I got a 97% chance of passing NCLEX on the first try according to ATIs comp predictor when i took it in January, but I struggled on and off with various ATI subjects before that. I don't want to get too confident (which I highly doubt will be a problem, lol) or too comfortable with one resources type of questions.

I've always been told never to just study 1 resource. I really like Exam Cram and istudy NCLEX app. Saunders is good too.

How was the passing criteria elevated? Heard nothing about it..

They elevated the NCLEX Passing standard and updated the NCLEX Blue Print this year, starting in April.

As for studying... You have to do what works for you. I just know that when I sat for my PN I read everything I could and realized I didn't use my time wisely spreading myself around when ATI covered everything....but everyone is different.

No problem!!! Ive heard so many stories about what has worked and what hasn't for some. You are most certainly right! Everyone's experience is truly unique and different.

Hello everyone, I am curious as to what is this "HUGE" ATI Med-Surg study guide that's approximately 800 pages everyone is referring too? Is this the ATI RN Adult Medical-Surgical Nursing Edition book (box of books for each semester) that is given to students at the beginning of the program or is this "HUGE" 800 page study guide something completely different?

I really don't have a problem with the books (besides them being kind of heavy some times), but the practice quizzes/tests on the site. Some of the rationales are so vague and ridiculous. Not to mention they don't always coincide with what we learn in theory.

I spent a bunch of time on predictor practice tests today, and I was about to beat my head against a wall. I have predictor next week and again in 2 months, and have to get 90% probability of passing at either test or go to remediation and don't get to sit our sit pass till we hit that 90%

The study guide is the ATI book for Med Surg, some 800 pages. We didn't get the books, but had access to the online copy. I hated that, so I went on Amazon and bought the books super cheap. Reading those books was the best way to study for proctored tests (which count for some points, but only a few). I've gotten almost all 3's. (except psych, just barely missed it)
