ASU- Summer/Fall 2016

Published

Hey everyone! I thought this would be a great place to talk about Applications, TEAS Questions/Scores, Titers, and just getting to know each other!! Which semester are you applying for? Questions? It'll be fun! :) Introduce yourself!!!

I am applying for the fall term downtown. I'm nervous but totally excited! :)

Okay friends I have another update that's not so great. So apparently we will be finding out by the end of April because there were 450+ applicants and they had to hire 2 new advisors just to get through everything. With only about 215 spots it's been tough getting everything together. So we have two more long weeks and I don't know how summer will get by with loans and what not. :/

NursingDevil, I would love to know your source, lol. You always have very specific information!

My advisor told me a couple of weeks ago that there were over 300 applicants, so the new actuality of 450+ applicants worries me a little (actually, a lot). Also, that's a pretty big gap in information...

Quick question NursingDevil, where did you get the number of 205 spots available from? I always thought there were around 170-180? 60 Summer, 60 fall, 20-30 Mayo, 30 VA. I've never been great at math, but now I'm curious.

On the bright side, I received an email last night from my advisor saying that they are hoping to send out acceptance letters by early next week. Hopefully that's the case!

@shotcaller & meowzers- I'm also happy about the black pants, haha.

Holy cow!!!! That is terrible news but better than no news at all. Wish they would just be upfront about what's going on so that we could be better prepared and not freaking out about watching our email every 20 minutes. At least then those of us trying for the summer cohort would know we need to have things prepped and ready to go incase we get in.

Jennifer emailed this to me about an hour ago:

"It is my goal to have them out this week, but it could extend to next week."

So, I don't know who's saying it's going to be the end of the month, but I really really hope that's not true.

Yay!! It sounds like we may actually know by Friday but for sure by next week. That's great to hear!!

I'm still hopeful for this week just because I trust Jennifer a little bit more since she is actually in charge of everything, and seems like our advisors are trying to sugar coat everything and just give us information to get us off their backs.

Surfsup95, I got my information from another nursing student who has direct contact with one of the people on the board for reviewing and placing nursing students. She was told that the reason the process is taking so long is due to the new advisor training and hiring process as well as the overflow of applicants. As I am sure we all hope the reality is not two weeks, that is what I was told. Hopefully my source is wrong or they finish sooner than they are expecting because I do not think any of us can wait that long. Plus, in previous semesters and years they found out around March 27th and we are finding out almost a month past that so it is of course more frustrating than need be. As for the number of people allowed in, I was actually told they added a few more spots. I am not sure which cohort but I know they did add more seats.

I hope you are right about them adding more spots!

I was under the impression that there were a lot less spots than that lol. I was thinking 30 for each cohort, didn't think there were 60 spots for the Downtown cohorts. That makes me feel a lot more confident!

Also, 450+ applicants seems like a crazy number. If it's true, I wonder why there was such a spike in applications.

And I'm glad we have black pants. I'm a klutz and don't own a pair of white pants, shorts or shirts for a reason. Also shoes.

I'm still not quite sure why they want us having white shoes. We will likely get peed on, barfed on, bled on, and God only knows what else. I hope they know of a really good stain remover!

I don't know, maybe they really want us to make sure we clean our shoes after they get peed, barfed, pooped, and bled on. I can't think of any other reason for white shoes.

@Tallmexican There are so many more applicants this time around because GCU stopped accepting transfer students and UofA barely accepts anyone into their program so ASU is gettting everyone who isn't applicable for other schools.
