ASU Summer of 2011 applicants!

U.S.A. Arizona

hello all you asu nursing hopefuls,

well, i decided to start this thread to get all of the arizona state bsn majors that are applying for the 16-month summer program starting in may of 2011 together. i went to the advancement workshop on 11/12/2010 and saw so many people there. i can't even imagine how many people will be applying. with only 100 seats open, it's going to be tough, although that's probably an understatement. the advancement scores for summer cycles have been lower than the traditional 24-month program in the past, but with all the changes that asu decided to make :uhoh3:, i think things will be different this time around. i don't think my chances are very good compared to other applicants. i have a 3.81 gpa... realistically, i'll probably have to get like a 92% on the teas to be competitive against students that have a 4.0, which seems like most do. i don't think that's possible...but i gotta stay optimistic. with replacement course for sciences being virtually impossible to take (seeing how you need so many pre-reqs for them which the nursing program doesn't require), i'm starting to worry:crying2: .however, all i can do is study my butt of for the teas and see what happens.

anyhoo..... feel free to share comments and stories, ask questions, and connect with other students that are applying for the summer 2011 program. this is just a way for us to get through the long wait until april arrives and to provide encouragement for each other. :heartbeat

What they mean by that is that they won't tell anyone who asks what the cutoff score is until 4 days later. They don't mail it out again. Also, I am pretty sure that they include the cutoff score in the advancement letters. So all of us that get the letters will know, it is just that they won't release the information to anyone who wants to know until later. At least, that is how I think it will work. I may be wrong.

That makes sense. I don't care what it is as long as I am above it :). However, it would be nice if they would tell but I guess I understand why they don't. Too bad I didn't know anyone there that could provide the inside scope :).

I just spoke with the office and my advisor and they said the letters went out today!! Good luck everyone!

Yay, we should get them tomorrow I imagine.

Omg! :lol2:

I just called the advising office and i got an automated message saying the office was closed for a staff meeting and will reopen at noon.

I am hoping that is a good thing!

Anyone else get an email today based on their status? I did not get into the program. I wonder if this means I didn't get in out right or if there is an alternate list that will be sent out at a later date. I am sure there isn't, just trying to hold on to hope :(.

I didn't get an email, what did yours say? I am confused why they would email you the same time the letters go out. Are you sure its from the advising office?

That is so weird! I hope it's not true!!

That is weird. I didn't get an email. I wonder why they would do that? Maybe they are testing out the system that they are supposed to be using in Fall. I wish they would just email everyone. I am so tired of waiting.

I just called the advising office and they told me again that the letters would go out this week, but she would not say what day. I think it was the girl I talked to earlier this week who always seems to be in a bad mood... Oh well, hopefully they have gone out already.

I called around noon and must have gotten a different girl, haha. She confirmed that the letters were sent out today and we should get them as early as tomorrow/friday.

The letter was from Health Promotion at [email protected].

Here it is in short: On behalf of Arizona State University, the College of Nursing & Health Innovation, and the Health Sciences Faculty, we would like to welcome you to the ASU family! While you were not admitted into the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program, we are pleased to inform you that you have been admitted into the new Healthy Lifestyles Coaching concentration of the BS in Health Sciences degree program with a curriculum that is closely aligned to that of undergraduate Nursing. As a newly admitted student into the Healthy Lifestyles Coaching concentration in the BS in Health Sciences, you are entering a rapidly growing and exciting field of health promotion.

I hope this isn't what I think it means but I think it is very clear. I had a 5.599 cutoff.

Hi Nursing Applicant-

That is just for your major. Does not have anything to do with the Upper Division nursing program. Stay positive. I got that letter two semesters ago.

Did you just apply to ASU this semester/for the summer as a transfer student? They changed it so transfer students/people who change their majors just can't switch majors to nursing unless they are accepted into the actual program. So if you just applied, your major won't be nursing - but something dealing with Health Sciences instead. They went over that in the information session I believe.

So, that looks like a default message sent to you for that very reason. Don't worry...It is definitely not a rejection letter. :)
