ASU Summer of 2011 applicants!

Published

hello all you asu nursing hopefuls,

well, i decided to start this thread to get all of the arizona state bsn majors that are applying for the 16-month summer program starting in may of 2011 together. i went to the advancement workshop on 11/12/2010 and saw so many people there. i can't even imagine how many people will be applying. with only 100 seats open, it's going to be tough, although that's probably an understatement. the advancement scores for summer cycles have been lower than the traditional 24-month program in the past, but with all the changes that asu decided to make :uhoh3:, i think things will be different this time around. i don't think my chances are very good compared to other applicants. i have a 3.81 gpa... realistically, i'll probably have to get like a 92% on the teas to be competitive against students that have a 4.0, which seems like most do. i don't think that's possible...but i gotta stay optimistic. with replacement course for sciences being virtually impossible to take (seeing how you need so many pre-reqs for them which the nursing program doesn't require), i'm starting to worry:crying2: .however, all i can do is study my butt of for the teas and see what happens.

anyhoo..... feel free to share comments and stories, ask questions, and connect with other students that are applying for the summer 2011 program. this is just a way for us to get through the long wait until april arrives and to provide encouragement for each other. :heartbeat

The anticipation is killing me! Just the thought that these last 2 years of college come down to this letter is driving me crazy! We've waited so long already, but these last 24 hours since hearing the letters got mailed out have been killer. Because now were just waiting on the us postal service instead of asu! Gah! I just want that letter in my hands already!

I really do hope the letters make it to everyones mailbox today, or at least some of our mailboxes so we can all finally know the cutoff score. Unfortunately for me, my mail usually doesn't get to my house until at least 4pm, but can be as late as 6 and on an extremely good day the earliest is 3pm! Its killer because unless my mail gets delivered before 4 (which is highly unlikely) I'm going to be stuck wondering because I have class from 440-9 tonight! Ahh and then after that ill be headed to straight to the library to a study group for a big test I have on friday, stay up all night and then head to work at 4am. After I work its straight to a lab for me followed directly by an exam which means the soonest ill be able to make a trip to my mailbox will be after 3pm tomorrow! Ahhh! That would kill me. So I really hope the mailman is efficient and speedy tomorrow and manages to deliver this long awaited letter before 4pm!

If not, ill be checking this site religiously during my class... If anyone receives their letter tomorrow, please, please, please share the cutoff score! Also, if someone on here gets an acceptance letter to mayo, please post on here to let me know as well as what your advancement score was! I don't believe they provide another cutoff number specifically for the mayo program, just an overall cutoff score. I'm extremely nervous about getting into mayo, so if anyone gets an acceptance letter today to mayo, ill be anxious to hear!

Anyways, the anticipation is giving me a bad case of insomnia (if you couldn't already tell by the time of this post). So the more information you guys get throughout the day today, the better! I'm sure everyone else on here is pretty desperate for any sort of knowledge regarding the cutoff scores. Personally, the sooner I know, the better, even if I don't personally have the letter in hand yet.

Best of luck to everyone! I hope that each of you has an amazing day that includes opening up the hard-earned and long awaited acceptance letter for advancement!

Keeping my fingers crossed for each and every one of you! And once again, please share any information you can throughout the day as hopefully all our letters will slowly make their way to our mailboxes!

I just got my letter! I got in :)!!!!! YAY!

The letter says the lowest score they took this semester was a 5.545

Hello everyone! I got my letter about 20 minutes ago! I'm still calming down.... but I GOT IN! The cut off was 5.545!!!! Good luck to all of you waiting for your letters! :D:D:D:D:w00t::w00t::w00t::smiley_aa:smiley_aa:smiley_aa:smiley_aa

I made the alternate list. Close but not quite there yet!

If there is anyone else on the alternate list, can you post your score so we can determine where we rank? Does anyone know how many alternates on average are placed each cycle and or how many alternates total?

Thank you!

My score is 5.534

I got in to Mayo and my score was a 5.934 :) excited to meet you all soon!!

Hey SEA3347: don't lose hope! I was an alternate (5.682, cutoff 5.689) along with at least 4 of my other classmates. I got a phone call a few weeks after in the early morning and nearly had some sort of attack with how excited I was. The semester before mine had all of their alternates go in.

For now, just go on doing your thing, but don't completely disregard the chance of getting into the program.

Congratulations Everyone!!!! I just got my letter and I have been accepted to Mayo with an advancement score of 5.814! I can't wait to meet everyone!!

Congrats to you all who made it!

Hey SEA3347 :)

So when I went to the advancement workshop for Fall 2011 (about 2 weeks ago), the advisor told me that they sometimes end up advancing the entire alternate list because people decide not to go, can't pay for it, etc, but they always end up advancing a part of it from what I understand. I guess like two cycles ago, they moved up 15 people or some number like that. I know this doesn't help a whole lot, but that's what I was told by her. Hopefully this helps a little. Good luck to you!
