Hey everyone,
I am a current post-bacc student at ASU. I wanted to start a thread for all of you who are applying for the 2017 class. Last year we had amazing support from the 2015 class, so we wanted to carry on that tradition and provide you all with the same support system. Feel free to use this thread to ask questions and seek advice. Many of my classmates will be on here answering your questions as well!
Good luck to you all!
Congrats to those who got in! I'm at clinical today, but will work on creating an facebook page for accepted students and current students later tonight unless another one of my classmates is able to do it today!
As for the exams, they are like no exam you have ever taken before. I think some people got used to them faster than others, but the first exam was definitely a shock to most. The questions ask for the "most correct" answer as many of the answers can be correct. A lot of people reviewed the Saunders NCLEX guide that has questions similar to those you'd see on the exams. My classmates and I have a lot of study tips that we can elaborate on further as well.
Congrats 2017 Post Baccs! I remember how good it felt to get in :)I know there are several of us who would be happy to meet up and chat with you about your upcoming year. If anyone is interested, let us know!
I would definitely be interested in meeting up to talk about good studying tips, how to be really prepared and what to expect. Especially since it sounds like the student welcome will be online this year and not require an in person meet?
Hi lavieestbelle8,
My select GPA was a 3.7 and I got an 86 on my TEAS exam. This gave me an advancement score of about 1.79. This year however, it seems that there were 48 applicants for 48 spots so we all got very lucky. If I could give you any advice, when you're practicing taking the TEAS exam, do it under the real time restraints. I almost ran out of time on my math section and felt if I were prepared fully for the time I would have done better. Best of luck to you!

My scores were about the same. And really it just depends on who is applying that semester. Just do the best you can on everything.
For the TEAS, I also recommend making sure you know how to do all the math without a calculator! I didn't realize I couldn't use a calculator until I was already sitting down for the exam.
I don't have any experience with patient care but I do work in the medical field that requires me to know alot of anatomy, physiology, and terminology.
I've got a question for the current class, do any of the students have a spouse and kids? If so, does the schedule permit time for them or are you studying all weekend every weekend? Trying to set expectations now and am unsure what to expect.
Another random question I have is about parking downtown, is it painful, do you guys use the garage across the street and if so what does that run you? Do any of you commute together to avoid traffic? I'd be coming from N Scottsdale/Cave Creek and am worried about getting there early with no HOV lane if I'm alone. Sorry my questions are all over the place.
