What is the technique to transfer a patient that is unable to help with transfers/repositioning. In my skills packet it says to put a transfer belt on them and then, using hips & rocking motion, assist them to sit by pulling them on the belt. But what about the 250 lb person who doesn't assist with the transfer??? We need to sit them up so they can use the EZ stand

then you would probably either get help from a second person so one person can be on each side or you use the hoyer lift.

If unable to do any of the work, I would be doing a hoyer.

If they are able to assist with a transfer, that's when you use the gait belt. Meaning with the rocking motion, they can stand, even if's its for a tiny second enough to pivot to the chair.
You don't transfer people with a belt when they can't offer some sort of assistance. You will kill your back. In those cases, I'd use the Hoyer.
another thing to remember you can always be more safe ( so if the person is a one person assist, you can use two) but not the other way around (never transfer a two person assist with one person)
