First i apologize for so many questions im asking here lately!! But i have yet another one
In the sg it reads under mobility critical element:
You are not required to perform any critical elements in mobility that does not pertain to your patient (based on assignment and patient condition). I dont get what this means??
So the critical elements for mobility, if assigned, are to assess and record level of mobility, use of assistive devices, and presence of balance abnormalities. These are to be assessed in every pcs. Is this correct??
I guess i am not seeing where the mneumonics are made from, what portion is to be pervormed on EACH pcs and which are only to be done if assigned by the CE. Any help puh-lease!
Again- im sorry so many questions!!

It is my understanding that you can be assigned different things on your Kardex for mobility, like transfer pt from bed to chair x 1, reposition, transfer to mother (for a baby), but if the pt has a device like traction or CPM than that is automatically included in the assessment along w/ability to move all extremities, ambulate, etc. I was told by a student who just recently passed that ambulating is something she had for all 3 of her PCS's (her peds was 16) but that if you have abdominal assessment you can knock this out at the same time by offering the pt to walk to the bathroom to pee. But I am still trying to figure this stuff out too! AND STILL WAITING for UPS to bring my FCCA, I have to go to the store and I think I have to sign for it so I am sitting here... waiting... LOL
Do you go to the EPN boards? Definately start posting these questions on there, one or two of the EC CE's is always on there and they will answer any question you post if they can. I posted like 3 questions already today, LOL :-)
Oh and message me your e-mail address or your name to find you on FB. I have a grid and some flashcards I uploaded with mneumonics on them.

If it does not pertain to your patient you will not be assigned it. If your patient has ambulate 10 steps on his careplan, for example, you will not be assigned to ambulate him around the hospital grounds. A rather extreme example to make it easier to understand. They don't ask you to do anything with your patient just to test you. It has to pertain to your patient's plan of care to begin with.

Where did you apply at? and what did you put as your ready date? I put my ready date as 8/1/11. I applied last week and still have not recieved a date yet...
I haven't gotten mine yet either. I have been in my Sanford and Sons hospital (that's what my boyfriend calls our spare bedroom now, LOL) practicing labs and PCS all day waiting for it to come. I remember the lady on the phone saying it would come today, I hope it didn't get delayed cause of the holiday. It's after 5PM where I am.... hope it still is coming tonight.
Hope you guys get your dates soon! Call them and see what's up.
