I will be graduating in May 2015, at which point I will join the throngs of new grads hunting for that perfect job. I am currently in florida, but am single with no dependents and willing to relocate pretty much anywhere, including rural. My goal is to secure a job in ED. I have been building my own database of hospitals that hire new grads with no experience - so far I have been focusing on the southern states but will start research on the midwest next.
What do I need to know about licensing? I was planning to start applying in feb-march before sitting for NCLEX. How does it work, getting a license in a different state? What should I keep in mind when applying to out of state jobs? Any advice and comments are greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I don't know how many hospitals are interested in talking to out of state unlicensed candidates, so you may get better responses once you have passed NCLEX.
Every state has it's own license, but many states are compact states, recognizing the license of another state. https://m.ncsbn.org/nlc.htm
unfortunately, Florida isn't one of them.
Good luck.
Thank you for the info! just looking at the link. do you know offhand if one can apply for an NLC license at the same time as a non-nlc licence?
Edit - my bad, just read on the page that this is not possible.

The Dakotas are hiring new grads ... its very easy to be licensed by endorsement.
Thank you for your feedback! i have added the dakotas to my research spreadsheet. I am hoping to find something somewhere a little warmer, but won't rule it out as an option. Thanks
