I had heard that there was a freeze going on for active duty accessions. Is there any truth to this and why? I would have chatted up my recruiter but he is still on leave for a week yet.

This is news to me. I seriously doubt such a freeze exist since the AC ANC is in dire need of qualified folks, but what do I know?

Hello,
The closest thing to this that I heard was that the AF and the Navy were going to reduce their numbers. Yet that was almost a month ago so I do not know how that is now nor do I know how accurate it was then.
Gen-overheard that at Meps and also on a military forum

There will always be "rumors" and changes. Never believe it until it is done. There has been a rumor that the military is going to do away with all their BSN's and have nothing but ADN's and they will all be enlisted. I doubt it will ever happen but it was in the rumor mill.

What/Who is your source for such nonsense

I sincerely doubt it.
My husband is in the Army Nurse Corp and is currently recruiting Army Nurses. He has heard of no such thing and is still actively seeking new Officers for the good ole' US Army.

Evening all,
Well, I can't speak to the Regular Army, but the Army Reserve just recruited me. Found out today from my recruiter that the September AMEDD board has approved my application for a direct commission into the USAR as a 66H8A, RN with a critical care specialty, and as a 1st Lt. with time in grade to boot... Like dconnors above, my nurse recruiter has not heard of any new plan by the Army to freeze recruiting, to the contrary, the Army is highly engaged in welcoming more nursing staff, not turning them away. IMHO - rumour has it...
Cheers,
Eric

Eric, your use of military bearing is outstanding. However, I'm an 1LT, as you will be soon. When I pick up CPT next year, we will still both be Company Grade Officers. Therefore, feel free to address me as Corvette Guy here, and if ever we meet in person you can call me Cary. Now, if I'm a CPT by then & your a 1LT, then you can give me a military salute, Soldier.

There is no freeze. There will not be a freeze until the nursing shortage is over. In fact I am looking for many good men and women to be Army Nurses. So if you know any.................
Are you an AHC Recruiter?
