Army new graduate board for FY2012

Going from Reserves to Active is not an easy transition. You have to go through the whole board process again. I know, I had to do it. I boarded for the STRAP in October 2009 was selected and commissioned in January 2010. I graduated my BSN program and then had to go through the same process in October 2010 for the Active Army boards was selected in December while at BOLC and didn't get to my first duty station until this month. And just remember, the course guarantee just means that at some point in your career within a certain period of time you will get to go to the course. And the courses are for specialty nursing, so some experienced nurses request them for a change in career paths. So they're not just for new nurses. Nursing experience is nursing experience, but the selection process is very competitive. Your packet has to look appealing/impressive. As Lunah has said in several posts, there were hundreds of us that went to boards FY11 and only 50 or so got selected.

FT Stewart Winn ACH, OR. Presently taking ACCC at Ft. Sam. Will be going to Ft. Carson with the 2nd FST next year. The 14th CSH was one of my choices to PCS to next year.

My recruiter said the same thing about experience requirements now, 2 years for AD and 6 months for reserves. I'm graduating in December, so he said if I get a job after graduation I can work on my packet during the first 6 months of work and apply next October which he says is the prefect time. I hope I can get that job so I can join!!!

It is incredibly difficult to get in right now. There is only one board in November, there is a two year experience requirement and it will be even more selective than last year.

The Reserve components (of all branches, I was told by a USNR nursing recruiter) will only accept a BSN. So if you're an ADN nurse (like me!) who had hopes of getting back into the reserve forces, you still have work to do.

Keep in mind if you are prior service that your time served is deducted from the maximum age limit to a certain extent. The USNR recruiter, for instance, told met that without limit, while the USAF Reserves recruiter wrote that the max age limit will still be 47 regardless of any adjustment due to time served.

OK, back to the job search boards... :/

The Army Reserves was the oly service which accepted ADN's in the past. Even thou it is still listed the last time I checked they will not even considered a ADN at this time.

Hello to all. I am new to this site. I have been trying to read other nurses's expeirences regarding becoming an army nurse. Please correct me if I am mistaken...

1) To my understanding, the army only accepts RNs with a completed BSN.

2) For a RN without a BSN a better way to get a army nurse job is to obtain a BSN prior to enlisting.

3)if #2 was the choice made... 1) does the army have any requirements regarding which BSN school graduate from?, 2) would the army help pay student loans?

4) Once you have your BSN you can apply for a job in the Army Nurse Board, which apprently is very difficult to obtain?

I have been reading through postings for the last weeks, but the information was not too recent. Has anybody succeed in this goal I would like some advice. dont want to sign up for something cant get out of. I heard the recruiters tell you what you want to hear to get you in. Thank you

the recruiters do not have to sell the position to get you in since there is more applicants then positions. recruiters are sales people trying to sell you a career. you will need to speak with a health care recruiter, not the enlisted recruiter down the street, for you to get upto date information about the minimun standards needed along with benefits.
