Army fy 2016

Hi,

has anyone else applied for the army nurse corps reserves for the 2016 fy. My packet goes to the selection board in October. Does anyone know how many applicants they are taking, or have any information on what they really look for during the selection process?

My recruiter sent me an email. However, now I'm kinda confused as to why I would not have made the October board. I was told that it had not gotten scheduled. I'm not sure on the whole process. Maybe it was because I am a 66p. Either way, I'm anxious to hear back regardign my waiver:P

I'm sure your waiver will go through! I'm not sure what the deal is with oct/ nov boards. I'm guessing it's because like you said 66p.

I hope so. I spoke with a guy I work with and he had the same waiver for grade a couple of months ago... We shall see.. Until then, I'll just keep doing what I'm doing. By the way, do you happen to know the dates of the October board?

I don't know the exact dates. I didn't find out my official results till nov 17 in the morning but I was told towards the end of October that my packet had already been unofficially boarded and moving through the system.

I have no idea but I believe the ROTC commissions were separate. I think the selection for ROTC/NCP/HPSP was all at one board. For DA I was told 5 slots for AD, targeting ER/ICU RNs.

Sounds like the 100-120 is the total accessions from all sources. Five for DA is in line of what it has been the last couple of years.

Thanks for the info saramarie14. Good luck to you and congrats on your commission!

Found out today that I GOT ACCEPTED! Woohoo, I am so excited. Looking to commission next week and get orders rolling from there. Any ideas of BOLC dates? I heard it kind of depends on when the unit can send you...

Congratulations on being picked up. If you are going reserves the dates will depend on your unit. If active you have to go first then on to your duty station.

That's awesome smsoftball08!!!!!! I shall sit in envy while awaiting my age-in-grade waiver:P As for BOLC,,, I work with a guy trying to go in February 2016. He was told all of the reserve slots were filled but there were around 100 or so active duty slots. His unit is in the process of trying to get them to give him one of those. Not sure how well that will work out but it may be worth asking about. Jerkrn may know better of the chances of that happening.

Congrats smsoftball08! I am currently waiting to get a seat in BOLC. I commissioned into the reserves this past Feb and am hoping to go to BOLC in April if my unit can get me in. There is an online BOLC portion that needs to be completed before you can get a seat for the second part and that can take a while to complete depending on how much time you have available outside of battle assembly.

I am not sure how they fill active duty slots with reservists. Would guess it comes down to numbers and availability of funding.

Do the online portion as fast as possible, you get retirement points for it as well. Use BAs to do it but I am telling you that you will need to do it at home as well. You don't want to be that useless LT who hangs around the unit for a year and hasn't gone to BOLC. You can't be utilized for training or AT and you can't get an OER.
